UNG gets grant for Upward Bound program

There is grant money for the University of North Georgia, $1.4 million for UNG’s Upward Bound program. Money from the US Department of Education will help fund the program that partners with high schools in Gilmer and Hall counties, paying for students to visit various colleges and universities around the country.

From the UNG website…

Welcome to the University of North Georgia’s Upward Bound Program. Our mission is to help underrepresented and underserved students prepare for, enroll, and graduate from institutions of higher learning. We serve students from Gilmer and Johnson High School. UB offers a unique opportunity to students who are willing to take their high school experience a step further.

During the academic year, UB provides academic support, assistance with the college application process, career and personal counseling, enrichment programs, and tutoring. The summer component is a rigorous six-week program held on the UNG Dahlonega campus.

We enjoy connecting with students, so please feel free to stop by our offices at Johnson High School or Gilmer High School. We’d be happy to greet you and provide information about how we can support your postsecondary journey.

If you have any questions or would like to reach out, please email us at upwardbound@ung.edu or contact our staff.
