RE: Update on COVID-19 Vaccinations

DATE: December 17, 2020

The recent decision to grant emergency use authorization for COVID-19 vaccines has raised many questions for our entire campus community. While much is still unknown, we hope to be in a position to offer vaccinations sooner rather than later in the new year. In doing so, we will be guided by standards established by the Georgia Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control.

Certainly, our expectation is that we can offer vaccinations to everyone later this spring or early summer. We will keep you updated as we learn more regarding this evolving situation. While there is no mandatory vaccination requirement at this time, the effectiveness of the vaccines is very encouraging. It will take widespread participation across this country and around the world to effectively combat the spread of the virus.

As we head into the Winter Break, we also want to remind you that now is not the time to relax health precautions. We urge you to continue to wash your hands, wear a mask, maintain social distancing, and avoid crowds.

We hope you enjoy your holiday break!
