The Genetics of Appendix Cancer (GAP) Study is a research study of individuals with an appendix cancer diagnosis and their families.

Is there a genetic link to appendix cancer?

Your involvement in the GAP Study can help us answer this important question and fill a crucial "GAP" in our knowledge of appendix cancer for patients and their families.

The GAP Study's long-term goals are to:

  • Find out how changes in your genes may contribute to appendix cancer development.
  • Learn about how genetic changes inherited from a parent may increase the likelihood of developing appendix cancer.
  • Understand what future patients can do to improve their health.
  • Find out how to best treat this disease in the future by tailoring therapies based on specific tumor characteristics.
