Additional Information about this Program
WVRC, part of the Ethos network of specialty & referral practices, services the greater Milwaukee and Southeastern Wisconsin region with locations in Waukesha, Grafton and Kenosha/Racine, Wisconsin. Our Waukesha hospital is both a VECCS Certified Level 1 hospital and a recognized American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care certified level 2 Trauma Center. Services at WVRC - Waukesha include 24/7 ER, critical care, surgery, internal medicine, neurology, ophthalmology, radiology, oncology, anesthesiology, cardiology, and sports med/rehab. One of our oncologists coordinates clinical trials through Ethos Discovery and other programs. A branch of Zoetis Reference Laboratories is in the lower level of our building, giving us the benefit of reference quality results within a few hours, 6 days a week. Our clinic is equipped with a complete in-house lab for point of care & after hours results, digital radiology, cage side ultrasound, telemetry, mechanical ventilation, HFOT, MRI and CT. This internship provides a strong, balanced experience. While on ER rotations, interns benefit from the same training our ER focused internship (now part of the ER Immerse mentorship program) has provided since 2007, including primary case responsibility, 24 hour mentorship, and learning to be the primary surgeon on ER surgery cases. As part of the Ethos network, we have full access to VetBloom, an innovative learning ecosystem, allowing access to cutting edge online courses and a vast compendium of comprehensive and current resources. Rotating interns participate in weekly didactic sessions with specialists in all departments and daily case rounds. In addition, interns participate in monthly hospital M&M rounds, journal club, and radiology rounds. All services at WVRC see strong and diverse caseloads, using an exceptional team of employees, and we are well known for our focus on providing excellent care and client service. Our interns become an integral part of our team and our program allows us to provide a well rounded experience. The program will prepare interns for residency programs or other specialty internships, a career in emergency medicine or strong general practice. Our program maintains flexibility to concentrate more rotations in areas of interest, including ECC. Many of our current ER DVMs have been hired on from a previous internship at WVRC. We are looking for interns who have a passion for high quality, clinically based learning and possess strong communication skills. We encourage all levels of applicants, including recent graduates and general practitioners, who would like the additional training our internship provides, to apply. We offer a wide range of benefits that includes health, dental and supplemental life insurances, eligibility to participate in our 401k plan, and an employee pet discount. Base life, AD&D, long term disability and professional liability and license defense insurances are completely employer paid. In addition, we reimburse for AVMA dues, one additional veterinary organization dues in your field of interest, and the WI licensing fee. Online RECOVER CPR course completion is required and reimbursement is provided to each intern who has not previously completed this, in addition to a $1500 CE allowance. Ethos Veterinary Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, protected veteran or disabled status, or genetic information. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance, and any other state or local hiring regulations, we will consider for employment any qualified applicant, including those with arrest and conviction records, in a manner consistent with the applicable regulation.
