P.P. Arnold’s career and life story is one of highs, lows, success and survival. Known for chart hits “The First Cut Is the Deepest” and “Angel of the Morning”, her career spans five decades of rock’n’roll history.
After being forced into marriage while pregnant at the age of fifteen, P.P. Arnold went on to endure a string of personal traumas, including physical abuse from her husband, sexual abuse at the hands of her one-time musical mentor and, later, the tragic loss of her young daughter in a road accident. The legendary musician has survived it all and has continued to reinvent herself through the years.
Starting out in the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, she arrived in London in 1966 to support the Rolling Stones where she caught the eye of front-man Mick Jagger. Since then P.P Arnold’s career has seen her in demand as a West End performer, a pop and soul singer in her own right, and as a sought-after backing singer working with everyone from Mick Jagger, Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton to the KLF, Paul Weller, Primal Scream and Oasis.
