To conduct human subjects research, researchers need to have completed one of the following courses within the last three (3) years:
- Social & Behavioral Research - Basic/Refresher
- Biomedical Research - Basic/Refresher
Note: IRB required training is different than Responsible Conduct of Research, which covers topics related to research misconduct (fabrication, falsification, plagiarism). Be sure to take one of these two courses for IRB training, Social & Behavioral Research - Basic/Refresher (for researchers conducting social/behavioral studies) or Biomedical Research - Basic/Refresher (for researchers conducting biomedical studies) and not Social & Behavioral Responsible Conduct of Research or Biomedical Responsible Conduct of Research.
If funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or National Science Foundation (NSF) the “Responsible Conduct of Research” course is also required by the funding agency.
