Online Resources Available:
All 4-6 grade students received a lesson on how to check out an ebook/audiobook through ASD's online library. Sora is the app/website that students use to access ASD's digital library and audiobooks that are available for checkout on personal and school devices. There are a lot of great titles and the high interest graphic novels...you can either download the titles to your device or even read/listen to them through your computer browser. Most devices you will need to download the free SORA App. Login is easy with student's google credentials.
Also student’s library card number works for the Anchorage public library’s online resources. Be sure to check out Mango and Hoopla.
4-6 grade students will bring home library card to keep. I hope some of them come home and try to access it. Please feel free to come in the library if you need help with accessing any of these great resource.

Book on Space!!!! Heck yes!
Welcome to the 2022-2023 season!
Battle On!
Calling all Readers! Battle of the Books has started and is off to an outstanding start. The library is full of young readers and I love it! There is still time to join. Third and fourth graders will meet in on Thursdays and fifth and sixth graders will meet on Mondays the library during their lunchtime. Everyone is welcome. A permission slip is required and is available in the library. Coaches are asking students to come to battle practices for the month of October and the beginning of November without discussing teams. Right before Thanksgiving students will form teams with the coaches help. Trailside Battle of the Books competition is tentatively scheduled on January 17th for 5th and 6th and January 19th for third and fourth at 9:30 in the multipurpose room. The Anchorage School District’s Battle, at West High, is the week of January 27. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns.
Digital Citizenship and Common Sense Lessons in the library:
This month each grade will receive 2-3 age appropriate digital safety and citizenship lessons. The digital world that our kids are learning and growing up in is incredibly exciting. Through technology, kids have access to new tools, to an incredible range of resources, and to stimulating opportunities to participate in novel ways. At the same time, parenting kids who are immersed in so many different technologies and apps can be daunting.
Discuss responsible online behavior. Discus what kind of online citizen you hope they are, how important keeping information private is for safety, rules for messaging, sending pictures and chatting online. Explain that you’re using those rules because you care about their safety. You may want to involve an older sibling who can model good online behavior and can stay involved in their younger siblings’ online lives. Finally try to stay current and know what online communities your child belongs to. A great resource for ALL is
