Sam’s Super Seats by Keah Brown, illus. by Sharee Miller. Kokila, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-593-32389-2. Sam, a Black child who has cerebral palsy, heads on a back-to-school shopping spree with their friends and appreciates taking rests on their fun-filled excursion.

Lemon Bird: Can Help! by Paulina Ganucheau. Random House Graphic, $12.99; ISBN 978-0-593-12267-9. Lemon Bird and a new friend sneak aboard a truck and find themselves far from home, then must determine a way back together.

Fire on Headless Mountain by Iain Lawrence. Holiday House/Ferguson, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-8234-4654-4. Virgil and his siblings’ trip to a forest haunt to lay their mother’s ashes takes a turn when they become stranded and must use the skills she taught them to survive a wildfire and get back home.

A Venom Dark and Sweet by Judy I. Lin. Feiwel and Friends, $18.99; ISBN 978-1-250-76710-3. In the sequel to debut fantasy A Magic Steeped in Poison, magical tea-maker Ning prepares to take on a nefarious political regime with new friends, and travels across her kingdom to find more allies willing to fight to save their home.

Marcel's Masterpiece: How a Toilet Shaped the History of Art by Jeff Mack. Holt, $19.99; ISBN 978-1-250-77716-4. This picture book biography of French artist Marcel Duchamp captures his influence on art starting from his iconic display of an upside-down toilet to inspiring several art movements throughout his lifetime. The picture book earned a starred review from PW.

Me and You in a Book Made for Two by Jean Reidy, illus. by Joey Chou. HarperCollins, $18.99; ISBN 978-0-06-304151-6. This picture celebrates friendship and the power of working together for early readers.

Creepy Crayon! by Aaron Reynolds, illus. by Peter Brown. Simon & Schuster, $18.99; ISBN 978-1-534-46588-6. In the third installment to the Creepy Tales series, Jasper Rabbit thought he’d solved all his academic problems with his discovery of a magic crayon, but when the crayon wants more control over his life, Rabbit must put a stop to his crayon’s chaos.

Moonlight by Stephen Savage. Holiday House/Porter, $18.99; ISBN 978-0-8234-5084-8. Readers will have to wait until the end to uncover the mysterious figure moving through the night in this bedtime picture book featuring linocut art. The picture book earned a starred review from PW.

The Legend of the Lost Boy by Francesco Sedita and Prescott Seraydarian, illus. by Steve Hamaker. Viking, $12.99 paper; ISBN 978-0-593-20620-1. In the third installment of the Pathfinder Society series, the Pathfinders are stuck 50 years into the past and must undertake a dangerous adventure if they plan to make it back to their own time.

Little Good Wolf by Janet Stevens and Susan Stevens Crummel, illus. by Janet Stevens. Clarion, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-358-56188-0. Little Good Wolf is different than his traditional big bad wolf community and searches for acceptance among his family and peers.

Frances and the Monster by Refe Tuma. HarperCollins, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-06-308576-3. In 1939 Switzerland, 11-year-old Frances Stenzel unwittingly creates and unleashes a monster into the city, and enlists the help of new friends to capture it and return it home. The middle grade book earned a starred review from PW.
