PEOPLES FORESTS PARTNERSHIP

FINANCING FOREST LIVELIHOODS FOR CLIMATE AND BIODIVERSITY

TO MEET OUR 2030 CLIMATE GOALS

of stopping deforestation by scaling ecosystem preservation and forest-based economic development led by and designed for forest communities.

OPEN LETTER:
GLobal south voices in support of RIGHTS-BASED redd+

"If REDD+ ceased to exist, I'm sure the Global North would
try to come up with some other system. We've spent so
many years trying to learn everything about R
EDD+, to

make our voices heard, and to make this idea actually
work on the ground for Indigenous Peoples
and Local
Communities in a way with high integrity.

We don't have time to start over again. The impacts
of climate change are devastating for us now; we are
experiencing floods, droughts, and people having no food
security. We have developed REDD+ as a critical tool.
"

Deborah Sanchez
Former Interim Executive Director of PFP and current Director of CLARIFI

Indigenous Peoples, traditional owners and local communities are crucial partners to achieve global climate goals. Their stewardship, leadership and active participation has successfully protected forests for generations. To scale forest protection, we need to recognize and invest in these communities.

TO THE STEWARDS OF THE WORLD'S FORESTS:

WE HEAR YOUR CALL

The loss of forest ecosystems, biodiversity, and forest societies continues globally despite decades of conservation finance. Forest communities hold the solutions to protecting the world's most biodiverse ecosystems yet less than 1% of global climate finance is reaching Indigenous Peoples and local communities.

To our forest community friends, partners, and others who have inspired this partnership, we hear you.

The Peoples Forests Partnership was formed to support forest communities’ call for their right to participate equitably in climate and conservation finance.

HOW TO ENGAGE

We welcome Indigenous Peoples, traditional owners, and local communities,  as well as corporates, NGOs, climate financiers, forest governments, donors, members of the public, and all willing stakeholders to join us in driving direct financing to forest communities for climate and biodiversity.

Indigenous Peoples, traditional owners and forest communities are specifically invited to be a part of our partnership.
