Hunger Task Force

Outpost Natural Foods and Hunger Task Force have been active community partners since the late 1990's. We share their common goal of ending hunger in our cities and have created a number of programs to help them achieve that goal. What is unique about Hunger Task Force is that all food and services are provided free of charge to local area emergency food pantries. That means they are 100% reliable on community support to help them operate and provide food for the thousands of people who face hunger every day in Milwaukee. Milk Money – Buy a gallon today to help a family in need tomorrow

Outpost’s Milk Money program helps local families meet basic nutritional needs. Milk is a good, inexpensive source of both protein and calcium and helps ensure healthy bones and teeth. We encourage Outpost shoppers to make a $4.00 donation (the average cost of a gallon of milk) at checkout that will then be donated to Hunger Task Force’s Wisconsin Dairy Recovery Program, which supports both local food pantries and Wisconsin dairy farmers.

Think Outside the Lunchbox

Many area children rely on the breakfasts and lunches provided by local schools for daily nutrition. When school lets out for the summer many families must provide additional daily meals for their children. For some, budgets are already stretched so regular healthy meals are often skipped and good nutrition can be severely compromised. We encourage our shoppers to donate to Think Outside the Lunchbox through our summer fundraiser by 'rounding up' at checkout.

Thanksgiving and Holiday Meal Boxes

Outpost provides fresh produce for the annual Thanksgiving and Holiday Meal Boxes assembled by dedicated volunteers at Hunger Task Force. For each holiday, meal boxes are assembled and distributed to area families through the Hunger Task Force network of agencies.

Buy A Bag for the Hungry

For a $20 customer donation, Outpost purchases $40 worth of natural and organic foods - enough to fill a grocery bag - for the hungry, including fresh carrots, apples and potatoes. Food is delivered to the food bank in the late winter months when community donations tend to drop off. Since the program's inception, Outpost shoppers have provided over $2.4M worth of food to help alleviate hunger in our community!
