Select colleges will waive application fees next week
Alabama students will be able to apply to select colleges for free next week.
The event is an extension of the week held in October. From Feb. 19-23, some colleges will waive their application fees for Alabama students.
“During our college application campaign held in October, we had over 25,000 seniors across the state apply to colleges and universities,” wrote Alabama College Application Campaign (ALCAC) Coordinator Dr. Monica P. Mack in a Friday statement. “Due to the success of this campaign, colleges, and universities have agreed to host another event for students. Students that did not apply to a college or university during the initial campaign are encouraged to participate in this event.”
Nearly 40 colleges and universities, as well as the Alabama Community College System, are participating in the program.
The Alabama College Application Campaign began 10 years ago to increase the number of students applying for and enrolling in higher education.
The Alabama College Application Campaign and Cash for College FAFSA initiative were combined into the Alabama Goes to College Campaign to encourage K-12 students to apply for college early and also complete their FAFSA applications.

The application deadline for Auburn University was Feb. 1.
