The Litchfield Land Trust plays a vital role in preserving the natural habitats, open spaces, and local character of our town for future generations. Through strategic land conservation, we protect our town’s natural beauty while protecting wildlife biodiversity, and agricultural viability. We build partnerships between citizens, government, and businesses to fund conservation projects which benefit every citizen. When it comes to safeguarding the places we love for our children and grandchildren, LLT leads the way.
The Litchfield Land Trust is dedicated to preserving the rural character and natural resources of our town. Founded in 1968, our non-profit organization protects over 4,100 acres of open spaces, forests, farms, and wildlife habitats for the enjoyment of current and future generations. We achieve our mission through land acquisition, conservation easements, and stewardship of conserved properties. Our members, donors, partners, and volunteers make it possible to ensure clean air and water, recreation, and education about our natural heritage. The Land Trust will continue to strategically conserve land, promote connections to nature, and inspire an ethic of conservation in the Litchfield community. Together, we can preserve what we love about Litchfield for the future.
