I remember the breakfast when I met Gil.  It took me 5 minutes to realize that he was the brightest mind I met in racing. But what convinced me to ask Gil to join the company was when I saw how he treated Angela and the “kids” …  so kind, so real, so natural… “We kind of like each other” he smiled. And that day we started a journey together that I will forever be grateful for. Gil had a unique skill to bring the best out of people, he’d pay attention to each one of us, and he’d call me after our group meetings to make sure that everybody was ok, always gentle, always inspiring, always Gil. One day after brainstorming during his morning walks, he mentioned “Oh, by the way, I am going to work for Zac at McLaren F1, I hope I can help the team…” and continued to talk about the features that he wanted to implement in the software…wait…you said what?!  He was huge, he was humble. That’s why is so difficult, that’s why I am going to miss him every day. And I know that the best way to honor his legacy is by building what he wanted us to build and by making it the best product ever: “Develop constantly and rapidly…by the time people figure out what you are doing, you are 10 steps ahead!” So that’s what we’ll do Gil, see you later my friend.
