About
Named as a finalist in the 2016 Australian of the Year Awards, one of Australia's 100 Most Influential Women in 2014 by the Aust Financial Review & Westpac Bank, and a 2014 Telstra Business Woman of the Year Finalist; I'm a humanitarian lawyer, certified speaking professional (CSP), best selling author of "Equal Justice" (Pan MacMillan, 2013), retired British Army officer, former terrorism & war crimes prosecutor, hostage survivor and mother of teenage triplet boys!
I worked for 13 amazing years overseas where I served as a legal officer in the British Army & a terrorism & war crimes Crown Advocate. Since returning to Australia in 2011 I have worked as Legal Counsel to the WA Commissioner of Police & the Corruption and Crime Commission WA, but am now a full time professional speaker, facilitator, trainer, coach, mentor, media commentator & advocate. I’m also the Deputy Chair of the Law Society of WA Human Rights & Equal Opportunity Advisory Committee, a Syndicate Chair at the CEO Institute of WA, a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Non Executive Director, UNSW Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) Adjunct Faculty, and an Ambassador for several not for profit organisations and charities.
As a senior legal practitioner I provide advice, advocacy and representation on matters involving human rights issues, discrimination law, employment law, international criminal law, domestic and international cold cases, and equal opportunities.
As a professional speaker I share my unique story of courage, strength & grit as a vehicle for shining a light on issues relating to resilience, authentic & ethical leadership, equality, diversity and cultural change.
As a leadership consultant I deliver in person and virtual keynote presentations, workshops, masterclasses & training programmes on the above areas, encouraging people to identify what's holding them hostage, define & live their values, build their resilience & find their voice.
As a Non Executive Board Director I bring a wealth of experience in the law, governance, human rights, diversity & inclusion and ESG.
I do what I do in order to motivate, engage and equip others to embrace their capacity to create ripples - to truly be the change they wish to see in the world!
My mission is simple - to inspire, empower & transform!
