#HumansofFactor: Meet Nigel Brannigan! Nigel is Director of Contract Management, leading client relationships in the technology sector. “I’m proud to have earned a place on Ulster University’s 25@25 Leadership Programme. I’m currently in Boston, attending a week-long residential at Babson College as part of the initiative, which aims to build a generation of leaders across business and government in Northern Ireland. Through this programme, I’ve been fortunate to attend a series of in-person leadership sessions guided by guest speakers, including the BAFTA and Emmy-winning writer of Derry Girls, Lisa McGee; TV presenter and former Irish Rugby international player Tommy Bowe, and Samantha Barry, Glamour magazine’s Americas Editorial Director. Meeting the other aspiring leaders on the programme has been a true highlight of the experience. There is a mix of people from large private employers through to people involved in politics and charity work. It’s been really inspiring to see the breadth of talent in Northern Ireland. Together, we are building and delivering civic projects that should survive the legacy of the course and have a genuine impact on Northern Ireland, improving the lived experiences and opportunities available to people here. As a first-generation university graduate, social mobility is a cause I care greatly about. Whilst my parents did not benefit from having professional careers, they were passionate about instilling in me the value of education, something I have benefitted greatly from. This respect for education and learning was one of the drivers that led me to apply for the 25@25 Programme. I feel very privileged and honored to be trusted with my leadership remit at Factor. I am genuinely proud of my success, and I work hard every day to be a better leader. The 25@25 Programme is helping me reflect on and refine my leadership style and I'm so thankful to be given this opportunity." #UUBGFA25

80% of clinical trials face delays - with half of those reporting contracting and legal hurdles. Delays of four to six months can leak over $100 million over the lifetime of a product. The human impact of those delays can be felt in the thousands of patients who urgently rely on getting access to potentially lifesaving treatments or technologies. In a bid to expedite progress, biotechs often trade off strong contracting procedures and processes to maintain a perceived state of momentum and keep pace with financing and shareholder milestones. But it’s a strategy that inadvertently perpetuates slower and more unpredictable trials, ultimately draining more time and money over the lifetime of the trial. Read more: https://ow.ly/sFb750QYUjV

With less than a year to comply with the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), financial institutions and their tech providers must prepare for the massive and complex regulatory response. The onus is on ICT providers to tackle compliance challenges and meet contract remediation requirements ahead of the January 2025 deadline. Dealing with the volumes of impacted contracts will take substantial effort and preparations in earnest should start now. Read more about the impact of DORA for ICT providers here: https://ow.ly/nfqN50QXOq1

Did you know that 80% of clinical trials face delays? In a bid to expedite progress, biotechs adopt a furiously paced ‘site start-up or bust’ mentality, trading off strong contracting procedures and processes. But that perceived state of momentum is often an illusion – one that unravels as contracting demands scale. In a new article for Clinical Leader, Factor’s Karl DORWART outlines how biotechs racing to get drugs to market faster can overcome stumbling blocks set by jurisdictional reviews and approvals.
