Diversity is essential to a robust innovation ecosystem that can create new medicines for those who need them. The biopharmaceutical industry is committed to having open and honest discussions about racial equity and what it means to have a culture of inclusion. This means having frank conversations with and listening to patients, employees and members of Black and Brown communities who are impacted by inequities and racism. It also means standing up against policies that are harmful, politically motivated and divisive. I’m proud of our member companies for forcefully coming out against the president’s executive order restricting workplace diversity training programs and free speech within private companies that have contractual partnerships with or grants from the federal government. Ill-conceived, bureaucratic hurdles like this do nothing but jeopardize opportunities for meaningful dialogue and progress. Biopharmaceutical companies are pushing for necessary, positive and long-term systemic change to better meet the needs of Black and Brown communities in America. So proud of our industry #PHRMA #inclusionanddiversity #patientsfirst
I commend pharma industries that openly admit it’s about time we reflect the community we serve, internally within our organisations too. Great to see colour in clinical trials. It’s a moral right, it’s a human right!
Authentic, open conversations make us all stronger. So proud to work for an industry that is showing up.
This is an important step. I commend the industry. It's time to take a forceful stand against this E.O. Let's look for additional opportunities to fight back.
Proud to work at PhRMA! Amazing progress is being made on having these important conversations for Black and Brown communities and all patients!
Proud to work for an organization that is ready to have the important discussion about our role in advancing racial equity and justice, and calling out those who are trying to stop this discussion from happening!
