New Jersey #MilkenAward science teacher Virginia Fasulo opens students' eyes to medical career opportunities through hands-on experience in her Lodi High School lab. "I hope students remember their First Aid/CPR/Stop the Bleed training. It could save lives one day! Also, I hope they remember how I taught them to stay curious, love learning, and be someone who gets involved and can help during emergencies, rather than just stay back as a bystander." About us
Founded by Michael and Lowell Milken in 1982, the Milken Family Foundation strives to discover and advance inventive, effective ways of helping people help themselves and those around them lead productive and satisfying lives. The means most conducive to achieving these goals is through education. The belief that young people are not only our greatest natural resource, but our greatest national resource has been the guiding philosophy behind our groundbreaking education reform initiatives. Whether founding the nation’s preeminent teacher recognition program, promoting excellence through academic achievement, preserving and expanding a cultural legacy or pioneering the nation’s most successful comprehensive education reform system, MFF continues to champion strategies that elevate education in America and around the world. Our initiatives: - Strengthen the profession by recognizing and rewarding outstanding educators, and by expanding their professional leadership and policy influence. - Attract, develop, motivate and retain the best talent for the teaching profession. - Stimulate creativity and productivity among people of all ages through programs that encourage learning as a lifelong process.

CODY, WY — "I have the most fun job in the world. We get to set people up to explore their passions. Not just students, but the teachers as well." At Cody High School in northwestern Wyoming, Principal Nathan Tedjeske's passion for helping students and staff learn and grow shines through in everything he does. A former principal at nearby Cody Middle School, Tedjeske helps students build a strong foundation for future success, connecting them to real-world learning opportunities in CTE classes and internships with local businesses. When Stephanie Bishop, vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, presented him with a $25,000 Wyoming #MilkenAward today, his school community shared their appreciation by raising the roof with their cheers! A fitting celebration for #NationalPrincipalsDay! "Kids deserve the best people available to be in front of them, teaching them and loving them," Tedjeske said after the assembly. "Something like this is a positive spotlight that kids can see. For me, it's inspiring." Continuing his strategic planning and partnership with local business leaders – which he started at Cody Middle School – Tedjeske has grown internship and apprenticeship opportunities for CHS students. "We want our students to see as much as they can while they're in high school and as many of those experiences while they're still under our umbrella and in the safety that we can provide." Congratulations and welcome to the Milken Educator Network, Principal Tedjeske!
