    Time flies when you’re having fun! How is it one year already since Thirumalai DESIKAN started with C Studios?! 😯   We’re so happy the stars aligned when they did. If you haven’t met Thiru yet, he’s our star performance manager running marketing campaigns for clients across Europe, India and Asia Pacific. LinkedIn superhero by morning, analytics superstar by afternoon and lead nurturing extraordinaire by night, he’s a multi-talented team player behind much of our client’s success. Here’s a bit more about who he is…   𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿? Wow! I could just go on and on. It has been a lot in year 1, but I’ve really enjoyed diving into the various topics around economic development. There’s so much to learn; every day there is something new. And as part of that, a big focus for me has been finding new ways of communicating the impact we’re having through our marketing programmes to clients with varying levels of KPIs and stakeholders. Each situation is different, so meeting those various needs has been challenging and rewarding.   𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? If it's summer time, you can find me in a cricket pitch having a good time with my team. And during other times, you can find me in any Manchester United or famous football games happening in Europe. I always try to be there to witness the drama. And if you still can't find me, I will be working out or sitting on my couch playing FIFA.   𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝟳 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀? It would be great to have a guide or checklist with content on “Before Arrival” and “After Arrival” in a country. The Netherlands has this with its relocation app, and Work in Estonia also has this for EU and non-EU citizens. That would’ve been a big help. Also, a simple, yet thorough explanation of the different types of visa options available for internationals would be helpful, so a person does not feel restricted of options. This could be a big barrier and encourage someone to look elsewhere if it’s not easily understood. ABA – WORK in AUSTRIA does this really well on its website.

    An oldie, but goodie. Our managing director Steve Duncan wrote this article last year for OCO Global, but it's still very relevant today and into the near future. Talent shortages worldwide are compelling #InvestmentPromotion agencies to take charge on the critical challenge of skills attraction, retention and development.     What will talent want in the near future? This World Economic Forum summary of 5 works trends to watch in 2024 is a start. Among them is a new generation of Gen Z and Millennial leaders taking over senior roles in government and companies, providing new leadership and new ideas. Also, "workism" is down; "work from anywhere" is up. Later this year, C Studios will be releasing its next edition of 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀, the survey of European talents asking what they look for in jobs and locations.     C Studios takes on Germany! 🇩🇪 We’re happy to announce Marius Ohl as our latest team member based in Frankfurt. As director of DACH region, he’ll bring more than a dozen years of experience in digital marketing across consumer, tech, SaaS, consulting and professional service industries in both B2C and B2B contexts. For the last two years, he’s run the Marketing Collective Asia agency specializing in market entry and go-to-market strategies in tech, hospitality and the service industry for China and APAC. He has been based in Shanghai for much of that time, but is relocating back to his home country. We couldn’t be happier. Marius will be reinforcing C Studios’ delivery expertise in Germany for clients worldwide, while also developing our client base across the DACH region. 🇩🇪 🇨🇭 🇦🇹 He is pictured below enjoying one of his passions – travel – visiting the second biggest monastery after Tibet called Ganden Sumtseling Monastery. It is located above 3300m sea level in Shangri-La, Yunnan Province in China. “To get up there you have to climb a lot of stairs, which is pretty exhausting given there’s less oxygen in the air. Once in a lifetime experience though, so well worth it. 😁”

    In most industries, website visits are a valuable metric on the eventual path to purchase showing product traction. Somehow, somewhere in the #FDI industry, it never gained as much recognition as a meaningful data point. We contend that website visits should hold higher value in the mind of #InvestmentPromotion agencies, but there are some caveats. Poor targeting practices, reporting that lacks context and a sense of "build it and they will come" have all contributed to poor quality visits and local-heavy audiences that erode the significance of the data as a whole. Here, we break down our suggestion for how to rethink the power of website visbility within your FDI funnel.

    C Studios' managing director Steve Duncan had the privilege of joining the FDI Leaders Network, founded by Cathy Dawson, in Frankfurt this past week. The new OCO Global office overlooking the Main River was the perfect environment for a lively exchange of ideas between the heads of IPAs from Europe, North America & Asia. The chance to connect and ideate is always a valued experience. The discussion these last few days was especially enlightening thanks to multiple insights shared by corporate decisions-makers from the new industries of tomorrow -- semiconductors, EVs, quantum and more. Steve captured four take-aways that resonated most from the two-day meet-up.
