As tax season winds down, we're excited to share some remarkable outcomes achieved through the H&R Block Canada Returning Hope Program, at Back Door Mission. Now in its eighth year, this program collaborates with local community support centers across Canada, including ours. Together with local Oshawa H & R tax experts, we provided free, on-site tax preparation services for individuals who may face barriers in filing their taxes. This year's tax clinic at Back Door Mission was a success! Our Tax Experts filed 43 returns over three days, assisting 18 clients, and identified $40,861 in missed refunds and credits. These results underscore our commitment to empowering individuals and ensuring equitable access to financial resources. Thank you to H&R Block and to all involved in making this initiative possible! Additionally, you can become a supporting partner of our mission by becoming a donor or volunteering your time. Your contribution can make a significant difference in helping us continue to provide essential services to those in need. Join us in making a positive impact in our community today! #WeAreYourPeople Become a donor: https://lnkd.in/g4dVa_Ca Become a volunteer: https://lnkd.in/g_2_d5Bh

🌟 Let's shed light on a pressing issue: youth homelessness. Did you know that an estimated 35,000-40,000 youth aged 13-24 experience homelessness annually in Canada? On any given night, 6,000-7,000 young people face this harsh reality. It's time to start the conversation and make a difference. 🎓 Join us this Thursday at the Back Door Mission for a thought-provoking discussion with Dr. Tyler Frederick, Associate Professor and Undergraduate Program Director for Criminology and Justice at Ontario Tech University Ontario Tech Faculty of Social Science and Humanities. Dr. Frederick's research offers valuable insights into effective supports for individuals aged 16-25 transitioning away from homelessness. 💡 This event promises to be enlightening and educational. Let's come together to explore solutions and raise awareness. Admission is FREE, but registration is required. Reserve your spot here: https://lnkd.in/e44v8YhD. 🙏 Special thanks to Durham College for sponsoring these vital discussions. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of homeless youth. See you there! #WeAreYourPeople #YouthHomelessness 🌟
