The skilled trades industry needs the following: - 90,000 welders per year through 2027 - 80,000 electricians per year through 2030 - 550,000 plumbers by 2027 Fortunately, there are people like Jamie McMillan, Andrew Brown, Mary Gaffney, and many more who are doing something about it. Jamie, Andrew, and Mary joined moderator Ryan C. Haskell for a panel about the skilled trades crisis that is facing the U.S. and Canada. Andrew and Mary are members of the Skilled Trades Advisory Council, which was formed in 2023 to elevate the skilled trades as high-paying, honorable, and often heroic career paths. These trades include electrical, plumbing, HVAC, janitorial, construction, and other essential jobs that require a rejuvenated workforce. Growing the skilled trades is a passion for NEST, and we thank the next generation for stepping up, accepting the challenge, and changing the narrative. Our NEST of Florida team made 250 sandwiches for St. Matthew's House (Southwest Florida) yesterday! In combination with the sandwiches we made earlier this quarter, NEST has been able to provide meals to 575 people! Happy World FM Day! Today, we spotlight Mike Heiman and his team at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, the newest luxury hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. Mike sat down with our CEO, Rob Almond, to discuss how the Fontainebleau opened on time in December of 2023. Mike's staff peaked at 1,500 skilled tradespeople on the property at one time to make it happen. Watch this video to learn about Mike's sustainability efforts, including diverting food scraps to a local pig farm. Last week, our CEO Rob Almond became the youngest ever to be inducted into the Saint Joseph's University - Erivan K. Haub School of Business Hall of Fame. For over 30 years, the Haub School of Business has honored corporate citizens for their excellence in business management, entrepreneurship, and ingenuity. Rob has sustained incredible support for Saint Joseph's University after earning his MBA in 2004, fostering future business leaders for two decades. He is an annual Capstone Business Policy competition judge, regular SJU guest speaker, and facilitator of student co-ops. In addition to his achievements at NEST and philanthropic work in the community, Rob sits on the Saint Joseph's Board of Visitors and serves on the University's advisory board for the Department of Decision & System Sciences. We officially launched the Skilled Trades All-Star Program with our partners at the Philadelphia Phillies. This new initiative aims to inspire youth towards promising careers in the skilled trades. Students from Mercy Career & Technical High School kicked off the program with industry professionals at Citizens Bank Park. They learned the intricacies of stadium operations, covering aspects from HVAC and groundskeeping to carpentry and maintenance. The Skilled Trades All-Star Program is a direct extension of the Skilled Trades Advisory Council's mission, seeking to illuminate the path for youth toward these essential roles. We had an exciting #BringYourChildtoWorkDay at NEST! It was way more than just a day of fun. It was an opportunity to inspire and encourage the next generation to explore their passions, no matter how creative or technical they may be. Our little NESTers put their creative hats on and had a great time tie-dying shirts. They also put their engineering skills to work building birdhouses. It was incredible to see them learn and problem-solve as they crafted beautiful homes for our feathered friends. Thank you to all who joined us!
