Learning Cafe October 19, 2021

October 8, 2021

Dear KLSD Community,

We are excited to announce the return of our in-person Learning Cafes. These cafes have always been a valuable opportunity for community and staff to come together for conversation around important and complex topics.

Our first café this year will be on October 19, at 7:00 pm in the JJMS dining room.

Our topic will be Learning from the Pandemic Experience (even while it is still with us). We are interested in thinking about our students’ learning experiences over the last 19 months and how those experiences can and/or should shape future thinking and planning.

As we consider everything from instructional practices to class offerings, we believe it’s important to reflect on the enormity of the pandemic experience. We’ll be interested in hearing about what makes you hopeful and what causes you to worry.

Because we believe in-person conversation has such value (for our students and for us), this will be an in-person only event. A Learning Café is a participatory event. Those attending should not expect to listen to a lecture. If you sign up to attend, please be ready to talk and think with neighbors and school staff.

To follow current health and safety protocols, we must cap the number of attendees and masks will be required. If we receive more interest than we can accommodate, we will make sure that participants reflect all levels of the school district. Importantly, this will not be the only opportunity for our community to weigh in on this topic.

Please register no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, October 15, by clicking here.

We look forward to seeing you soon,

Andrew Selesnick, Superintendent of Schools
