Raising money for Tusk Trust and How Many Elephants

Story

Protect Africas Giants

Charities: Tusk & How Many Elephants

Amy Simes, Emma Caudwell and Andrew Pearce aka ‘The Jumbo Jets’ are taking on a Charity Sky Dive on the 23rd March at Hibaldstow airfield in aid of two amazing charities, namely Tusk and How Many Elephants, both of whom are actively involved in elephant conservation in Africa.

The African elephant population has fallen by over 30% in the past seven years, largely due to poaching, habitat loss and human-widlife conflict. The illegal wildlife trade poses immediate threats to wildlife, particularly iconic African species such as rhino, elephant and lion, which are poached for their horns, tusks and teeth, claws and bones respectively. The illegal wildlife trade is now the fourth largest criminal industry, worth as much as $20billion per year.

Charities such as Tusk and How Many Elephants are working towards achieving long term sustainable wildlife conservation, and to do this they also support rangers working on the front line in Africa who share the same goals. Importantly, by investing in projects to conserve, protect and increase the elephant population we can safeguard for the future so much more as these giants play a significant part in mitigating the impacts of climate change, and benefiting our ecosystems. Therefore their presence on this earth should not be under estimated for so many different reasons.

Please see below a Testimonal from each of the Charities which we are supporting:

Testimonal from Hannah at Tusk:

“Tusk’s mission is to amplify the impact of progressive conservation initiatives across Africa.

The charity has earned a reputation for providing a highly efficient solution for funding wildlife conservation programmes. We partner with the most effective local organisations, investing in their in-depth knowledge and expertise. By supporting and nurturing their conservation programmes, we help accelerate growth from an innovative idea to a scalable solution.

For over 30 years, we have helped pioneer an impressive range of successful conservation initiatives across more than 20 countries, increasing vital protection for over 70 million hectares of land and more than 40 different threatened species. But the threat to Africa’s unique natural heritage remains real and more urgent than ever.”

Testimonial from Holly Budge on behalf of How Many Elephants:

“Delighted that Andrew, Amy and Emma are undertaking this important and fun challenge, firstly because it’s for such an important cause to protect the future of the African Elephant and secondly because parachuting is one of my passions which I have enjoyed for many years and which culminated in me becoming the first woman in the World to skydive Mount Everest. I wish the team every success and fully endorse this challenge”

Jumping out of a plane at 15,000 ft which is nearly 3 miles above the surface of the earth at terminal velocity of 125 mph is both a challenge and an incredible experience. We are extremely grateful for all of your donations and support as we embark on this challenge to allow these charities to make an even greater difference to Africas wildlife, habitat and people.
