Financial Sustainability Mini-Toolkit: Domestic Violence Collaboratives and Others

Multi-sector collaboratives (MSCs) that focus on priority health and safety issues such as domestic violence are caught in a paradox: There is robust interest from philanthropy, healthcare, policymakers, and others in developing MSC that are adequate in scale to significantly move the needle on complex issues. Yet, there is very little clarity about how to achieve sustainable funding for such work. Based on years of experience providing financial sustainability technical assistance to Blue Shield of California Foundation-supported domestic violence collaboratives and California Accountable Communities for Health Initiative grantees, we put this mini-toolkit together. The purpose of this narrative and tools is to provide easy-to-digest key concepts and a practical structure to guide sustainability planning. Sustainability planning is dynamic and challenging, if you have questions or want support, contact Jeremy Cantor (jeremy_cantor@jsi.com) or Erin Shigekawa (erin_shigekawa@jsi.com).
