NSW Housing Appeals Committee

An independent avenue of appeal for social housing clients in NSW

The NSW Housing Appeals Committee (HAC) is an independent agency which deals with appeals from people who are unhappy with decision(s) made by social housing providers.

The NSW Housing Appeals Committee Charter sets out the role of HAC and the HAC jurisdiction.

It was established to ensure that clients of government funded housing services have access to an independent system of review and redress.

We deal with appeals from clients of both:

  • DCJ Housing (public housing), and
  • Community housing providers in NSW

Appeals can be about decisions made across a wide range of issues affecting tenants of social housing and applicants for housing services. See what can be appealed.

The HAC is:

  • Fair
  • Quick
  • Informal
  • Easy
  • Free

We are happy to provide advice to applicants, advocates and housing providers about the appeal process or you can submit a Second Level Appeal form to appeal.
