OC HEALTH CARE AGENCY
The Health Care Agency (HCA) is a regional provider, charged with protecting and promoting individual, family and community health through coordination of public and private sector resources. Many of HCA's services are preventive in nature and therefore are not readily apparent to the public. Some examples of services include food protection, hazardous waste regulation, water quality monitoring and pollution prevention, mental health services, alcohol and drug abuse services, preventive health services for the aging, health care for incarcerated individuals, communicable disease control, child health and disability, immunizations, public health field nursing and public health clinics.

THE OPPORTUNITY
HCA Communications supports, coordinates and promotes effective communication in presenting the strengths of the organization and its employees in an accurate and timely manner in print and digital materials.

Interns will work with staff to develop promotional materials for programs, including flyers, posters, brochures and social media content to promote various agency programs or services, using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university and majoring in graphic design, visual arts or related fields; or be a recent graduate who has completed their degree in one of the above fields. Applicants who are enrolled in an accredited college/university and have acquired skills/experience in the below areas through personal or professional endeavors are eligible to apply.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidates will have experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) and demonstrate enthusiasm and an interest in applying design concepts in an applied setting within County guidelines.

TIME COMMITMENT
Flexible schedules are available that consist of 10 - 20 hours per week for 10 - 12 weeks. Hours must be scheduled during regular business hours (Monday – Friday between 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.). Interns able to schedule the maximum hours/duration listed for the internship typically gain a more in-depth experience.

BENEFITS AVAILABLE TO INTERN

Although this is an unpaid internship that does not lead to paid employment or include employee benefits, students and recent graduates are offered an excellent opportunity to:

In addition, applicants must include and attach samples of work or a portfolio to their application and contact information for two professional references.
