Associate Professor of English

Director of The Great Conversation

B.A. English, Hope College
M.A. English, The Ohio State University
Ph.D. English and Religious Studies, Indiana University

About:

Professor Harkaway-Krieger teaches early English literature (medieval and Renaissance) in the department. Her training is in both English and Religious Studies, and her research focuses on medieval spirituality, Christian mysticism, and the use of metaphor in our devotional language. She particularly loves talking with students about how it is that we can and do talk about God!

Dr. Harkaway-Krieger also directs The Great Conversation program. TGC serves as Gordon’s first-year writing and first-year seminar course. In addition to managing the curriculum, Dr. Harkaway also hires, trains, and manages the peer mentors (upperclassmen who serve as TA’s and help first-year students successfully manage the transition to college-level academics).
