What a compelling read, so many twists and turns this story took. The story was so emotional for so many characters that it went right to the heart of the reader.
Loved the characters, especially Needles, even with everything he to lived through he remained a compassionate and loving man who was protective of those he loved.
Violet was a bit of a firecracker and strong and determined, and loved the chemistry and instant connection she had with Needles.
Loved the fact that all the characters in this story were all a major part of the story too, not just Violet and Needles. Grace putting her demons to rest. It is amazing to see how all the connections play out and how it all connects to the characters in this series.
Loved Needle and Violet as a couple, they were good for one another. Iris was a sweetheart of a child. Glady's was such a fierce momma bear loved her sass, just loved her period. Jackal, why do they call you madman? Hum....
Non-stop drama, couldn't put the book down! This story is not for the faint of heart, it may have triggers for some people as it revolves around horrible injustices done to innocent children, so beware but, the story was also full of so much love, protectors and full of avengers and second chances and full of a ton of emotion that it was enough to bring the reader to tears.

Dark Heartbreaking MC Romance
What an awesome story of learning to survive and overcoming some of the worst things life can throw at you. The Death Hounds MC are a brotherhood that are there to help out women and children who have been victims of some of the most depraved men and women. Needles saved a little girl from The Community and has become a safe place for her. I loved her name for him…Noodles. That was the perfect amount of levity to this heartbreaking story.
Violet and her twin Rose were separated at a young age and had lost contact years ago but now Violet was determined to find her. Adam was a man who talked to the woman raising him to bring Violet into their home and he was also now a member of the Death Hounds MC. It was because of this connection that Violet met the man who could help heal her. Needles had his own childhood tragedy he was trying to overcome. What a yummy little age gap read this is! All it takes is one look at Violet and Needles knows he'll do whatever is necessary to protect her, and that's just what Violet needs whether she knows it or not. He's lived his own version of h*l^ and even though Violet hasn't had as many bad experiences as Needles, she's had her share. Their story is full of all kinds of surprises and twists and turns seem to come out of the woodwork. Needles and Violet just may have more in common than they initially thought. Needles is a beautifully written book with a fantastic, heartbreaking storyline.

WOW - where to start, where To START?!
Needles, book 3 in the Death Hounds MC series by the mega talented author H.J. Marshall is jam freaking packed with so much ooey gooey goodness. It's lip smacking good and will leave you full, satisfied and hungry for more! Trust me, you’ll want seconds and thirds and fourths. It's exactly what I've come to expect from the author and I couldn't be more pleased at the incredible romance she delivered to her readers.
What's in this ooey gooey goodness you ask? Well, it's definitely not your ordinary sweet kind of romance. Nope it is not! But it has its very sweet moments. It's an escape of the motorcycle romance kind that you dream about and was made from the very best of ingredients.
Needles is the perfect recipe, a smorgasbord so to speak, offering its readers only top shelf, grade A characters that include a variety of hot as all get out bad boys and I'm not talking about school boys. These are men. Real men. The "take no crap" kind and will have your toes curling in no time. Add to that the most caring devoted women who are the most supportive bunch of women you will ever need by your side when the going gets rough. And believe me it does. It really does!
Our top ingredients in this romance include a yummy in your tummy and swoonylicious Hero Monroe aka Needles. A member of the Death Hounds MC. Good God Almighty. He's exactly what our beautiful heroine needs. It's a match made in MC heaven.
Speaking of matches, Needles will set your heart, not to mention the rest of you as well as your e-reader on fire. I wanted to take a big ole bite right out of him and savor every tasty lip licking morsel.
But there is darkness living inside Needles. Family matters that left me gasping at the wrongness of it all. There is so much of it. I was in complete disbelief that this could happen to this man through his childhood. The scope of what happened to him will both surprise you and make you sick to your stomach. Demons that taunted him as an adolescent seemed to have trickled into his present. It's a very clear and present danger. I would love to elaborate but no can do. Spoilers and all, you understand.
Also tied for the number one top ingredient is Violet. There's so much I want to tell you about her but I don't want to give anything away. I absolutely adored her. Like Monroe, she has darkness residing inside her too. Incredible sadness and for good reason. You'll want to help her. But all you can do is read on and pray she finds what she’s looking for...
Violet is so sweet and filled with pure goodness through and through. Her life has been nothing short of a nightmare. She's missing a part of her soul. Something that crushes her spirit and leaves her empty and feeling unlovable. A shallow version of the woman she deserved to be.
Lost loves, stolen moments and danger danger danger seem to always find Violet in the worst way. But something other than sadness also finds her. Giving her renewed hope for a happier life.
Unexpected love in various forms, being loved, finding and falling in love. Those are things Violet never dreamed could be possible. Would she, could she dare to hope for such happiness when certain people enter her life? Both good and evil. Or was it wishful thinking?
Unfortunately she's found herself smack dab in the middle of big time suspenseful and potentially deadly trouble. That's when her eyes land on a certain biker. A biker who is equally enamored with her and refuses to leave her side in the face of danger. Needle is so very good to Violet. His protectiveness over her is goosebump worthy!
Oh, about Violet.... Don't let Violet's innocence fool you. You mess with her favorite flowers, Iris and Rose and there will be a day of reckoning… For everyone. When push comes to shove, she'll prove she's no shrinking Violet!
The number three ingredient is our beloved Gladys. Yes, I said ours. Because well, she stole my heart, dang it! She plays a very large role in Violet's life as well as those closest to her. She helped Violet in a huge way during the hardest times in her sad life. Violet loves Gladys very much. Just like everyone else who meets her.
Now for ingredient number four... He's baaaaack! The madman of Portstill. You got it. The one and only Devlin Callahan rejoins us once more and I couldn't get enough! My heart was all a flutter when he entered the story. Awe and jealousy at the love he carries for his family and friends. Especially for his wife-his lamb Elise and DJ. But dear gawd, don't cross him or someone in his "family" because your time on this earth will be short lived. He does not mind getting his hands dirty. Cleaning up the filth and taking out that trash brings him such satisfying joy no matter how that's done. Yup, Devlin Callahan is as bad*ss as they come. He's meaty, he's everything and you'll want to sink your teeth into him.
The number five ingredient is a group of people. The best of people. It's got bits of Devlin Callahan's lovely lamb Elise, DJ, Sadie, Gunner, Skid, Grace, James, Jackal and of course, the unforgettable Iris and Rose. With all of the past characters from this series and series that have passed, it just felt like home. What an awesome feeling that was.
The number six ingredient is also a group of people. The villains. The evildoers. And there are so many of them. I loved hating each and every one of them. These villains were brilliantly written. The nature in which their characters were intricately woven into the story blew my mind. I'm not saying any more about that group. Only that it's big. Really big! Each added to the story in their own way in a deplorable, depraved and suspenseful way. They are truly evil people. E.V.I.L!
Will the demons as well as a deranged psychopath that's on the loose, who wreaked havoc over the lives of so many innocents, meet their maker in some fashion? Sorry! My lips are sealed.
Some of my spoiler free book favorites:
* The comradery, the openness within the brotherhood was as amazing as ever. They felt each other's pain and weren't afraid to show it. What honor each and every brother had. As I've said in the prior reviews of the books in this series, you'd be hard-pressed to find another brotherhood that could come even close to that of the Portstill Death Hounds MC.
* Two bikers, a hug, a kiss on the cheek and a grandma.
* The twists towards the end. May I just say “OH MY GAWD!!!”
* Noodles and a 10 year old.
There were EXCITING TWISTS and SHOCKING TURNS, NAIL BITING SUSPENSE, and a VERY SURPRISING TURN OF EVENTS that had me gripping my tablet as the adrenaline was spiking and taking over my senses. There were some really terrific "I never saw coming" moments and I gobbled them up one bite at a time.
Were the evildoers brought to their knees? All I can really say is what happens will leave you stunned!
The finale was the "just dessert" one would need after all that excitement. It was what everyone in this family, this home, and especially Needles & Violet so richly deserved! The ending was so therapeutic, satisfying and had me rubbing my full belly having just devoured this AMAZING 5-Star romance. Talk about coming full circle. It's mmm mmm good!

When he is thrown into a pit of hell, he has to find a way back to his real family, but the years away could destroy him. Monroe “Needles” is a man that will fight for those that can’t fight for themselves, and when he helps his “brother” Skid get rid of those that hurt Skid’s old lady, he finds some peace in his tortured past, and a little girl that latches onto him and won’t let go. Giving Needles a new look on life and a reason to move forward.
She was left behind by her sister when they were twelve. Her sister didn’t have a choice and if it were up to them, they would have stayed together, but they had to listen to the adults. Twins in foster care torn apart to leave one behind and believing that she’s not worth a family or love. A young girl that will look for her sister every day until they can be reunited. Violet and Rose were close when they went into foster care, but when Rose was adopted leaving Violet behind, Violet felt that she wasn’t good enough and then she was finally seen by someone that wanted to help her, so she found a new family.
Needles and his MC are a group of men that fight for those that need help and will protect anyone in need. When they find a little girl in a sex trade ring, they find more than what they were expecting, and their family will grow. Pasts will haunt some and strength, love, and determination will override the pain, horrors, and tragedy that these characters have known. I loved Needles’ book and Violet and Needles are great characters. This is a tough series to read, but it is done so well. Ms. Marshall has a great way of writing these tragic stories and her characters are strong survivors that come to life and had me hoping for redemption, healing, and the love of a great partner for each of them. I give this book a 5-star review and look forward to more of the Death Hounds MC Series.

Wow. Just wow. I usually always prepare myself for H.J. Marshall’s MC books, but every single time… I’m left surprised, emotional, but yet satisfied. I’ve said this many times, and I’ll say it again. I love her books because… they feel so real. It’s dark, there are things written that most people would shy away from, but I think that’s what makes me look forward to these books. Because it shows that even with bad things happening, trauma, and such… there can be a happy ending to someone who’s lived through some very dark times. Thank H.J. Marshall.

The DeathHounds are his family, his brothers, his everything. And like all else, they are there for him… and the woman he falls for. Violet, a lost soul. Who’s battling her own sets of demons, is brought in with Needles. The ride is bumpy, with ups and downs. But will they conquer everything to get their happily ever after… MC style? There’s only one way to find out, and that’s to give this book a read. I highly recommend it. Thank you again Marshall!

This story is heartbreaking yet heartwarming. Violet lost her other half. After her twin sister was adopted she disappeared without a word which caused Violet to deal with her own demons.
Monroe aka Needles lived through h€ll and back before he was able to return to the Death Hounds MC.
Who knew after raiding the Community a little girl would have the brothers wrapped around her little finger.
When looking into Iris's family they discovered she had an aunt. One look at her picture Needles knew she was the one.
Who knew that sweet, innocent Iris only had to say two little words to trigger Needles causing him to collapse and fall into darkness.
As the pieces of the puzzle fall in place Needles now knows who's behind the abduction of Rose.
Violet and Needles were perfect for each other. They balanced each other's light and darkness. Needles was such a caring soul.
I loved Gladys's personality as a mom.
The pet names Iris gave everyone was adorable! Noodles!
I loved the unique road names of the brothers!

HOLY EMOTIONAL HELL BATMAN! Needles has gone through hell & back from those who are supposed to protect him, so he definitely has some serious demons. The Death Hounds MC keeps him relatively sane despite those demons as they've become his true family, however, there's more to come. The Death Hounds MC are protectors as they help out those innocents (like women & children) who have suffered so much evil in their lives that it brought me to tears more than once. Needles rescues a little girl named Iris from The Community, and this little girl (& scene stealer) brought light into his dark world but there's more. Violet comes next, and the amount of evil she's suffered made it hard for me to breathe at times, but it really brought out the protective gene in Needles as he can relate to brutal demons. On top of all this heartbreak, there are twists coming in hot (so many to count that I won't even hint at), a fantastic supporting cast, and little Iris who brought a smile to my face more than once. I LOVE this author so much & CANNOT WAIT for more so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Then in walks Iris this precocious little girl who needs the protection of the Death Hounds MC. In finding Iris leads "Noodles" :) to Violet, the woman who will truly change everything for him. Danger surrounds them all and the evil of "The Community" is still out there hunting. I truly loved this story and all it's characters, at times the subject was hard to read but H.J. Marshall never exploited any of the characters or their stories. This was such an amazing journey to go on. I cannot wait for more of the Death Hounds MC!!!

He'd only been happy with his family the Death Hounds. When the woman who'd deserted him returned and snatched him from the MC family who really cared his life turned into a horror show. Until he escaped and returned. They helped him but inside he was still in a dark place. Then they went after the darkest of monsters to rescue a child who clung to him and started to bring him out of the shadows. A woman who'd suffered for years was also rescued. A woman who made him feel things he hadn't felt before. Who needed someone who could understand. Someone like Needles.
There are surprises, connections, evil people, and MC full of what people might think are thugs by looking but instead are the true heroes and protectors. There are steam, and emotions pulling the characters and readers.
Watching the healing and love develop as well as families unite gives the reader the same emotional mix. A story not to miss.

This is the third book in this amazing series and is Needles and Violet’s journey. Needles has a traumatic past which left him living in the darkness, while he finds a family with his MC brothers. When a precocious little girl Iris is found, and needs the protection of the club, this leads to finding Violet, who has her own share of demons. These two are the light to each other’s darkness, and Needles begins to feel things which he has never felt before towards Violet, and they complete each other. This is a well written dark, raw, and gritty, emotional roller coaster, with healing, secrets, family, trust, surprises, heartbreak, danger, suspense, intrigue, and love, which leads to a steamy and heartwarming riveting page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Monroe/Needles and Violet
Wow what a true tragedy to be separated from your twin at such a young age and then learn later in life that your twin sister suffered such unimaginable and disgusting torture at the hands of such depraved and scum of this earth. I really felt saddened for what Needles endured during his teenage years as well. I love how Gladys and her now deceased husband Bill took in Violet and adopted her, thanks to Adam/Jackal since he is there nephew and he saw that Violet needed help. Really sad what her twin sister Rose suffered, but these are some truly strong women. Very glad that Iris was rescued in time and that's how she met the club guys, but her hero is her Noodles. I really hope that all of these sorry excuses for humans that was part of The Community are with Satan now. Happy reading.

H.J. Marshall is a new to me Author and am definitely adding her books to my must read list. This book was a mix of on the edge of your seat suspense and twists and turns that will surprise you. It was an absolutely heartwarming yet heartbreaking book.
This is Needles and Violet’s story. Both have painful and tragic backgrounds but have found their way to overcome and fight to heal. Needles is a member of the Death Hounds MC a club that’s a brotherhood and a family. They are not afraid to fight to protect or save those they care for. Which is what they do for a special child and a woman, Violet, who Needles vows to save and protect.
This was just altogether an absolutely amazing read and I highly recommend it. Lots of feels and emotions within these pages that you just won’t want to miss.

H.J. Marshall is a new to me Author and am definitely adding her books to my must read list. This book was a mix of on the edge of your seat suspense and twists and turns that will surprise you. It was an absolutely heartwarming yet heartbreaking book.
This is Needles and Violet’s story. Both have painful and tragic backgrounds but have found their way to overcome and fight to heal. Needles is a member of the Death Hounds MC a club that’s a brotherhood and a family. They are not afraid to fight to protect or save those they care for. Which is what they do for a special child and a woman, Violet, who Needles vows to save and protect.
This was just altogether an absolutely amazing read and I highly recommend it. Lots of feels and emotions within these pages that you just won’t want to miss.

Needles is absolutely incredible. He's boy who lost the father he adored and who instilled a soft soul in him. A young man who was taken by his mother and endured four years of hell until his escape. He's a man who heals the broken with a tattoo gun and a heart of a warrior. He's a man I wish would save me.
Violet is a girl who had her twin ripped from her but still put on a brave face. Until she sank deeper and deeper into a despair that had voiced in her head assuring her that she was not enough I every way and everyone will leave her.
The internal scars battle the external in this love story. Two broken souls can make a whole and love can heal you. Absolutely beautiful and I'm completely in love with Monroe/Needles and Noodles, lol.....Absolutely perfect. B.A.C.A.....total heros. ❤

H.J Marshall has written a story that is heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time. Violet's childhood is tragic when she looses her twin sister, and this causes her to begin the search to find her. Needle's lives through h&ll until he is able to get back to the only family he ever knew, the Death Hounds. This story has tons of surprises and twists that will keep you captivated and turning the page to find out what is next. Violet and Needles are characters who you can't help but love, they draw you in and make you feel like you are part of their lives.
I'm excited to read more in this series. H.J. Marshall knows how to write a story that sucks you in and makes you want more.

Suspense overload
HJ Marshall has managed to—once again—rope me into this world again effortlessly.
Knowing we would get more answers about The Community had me eager to read this book but Violet—and her tragic past—completely ensnared me.
The connection between her and Monroe was instant and intense. While—to begin with—I didn't feel it for myself, it soon became apparent that they were the real deal.
I loved the loyalty between the club members and the way they embraced Violet, Rose, Iris, and Gladys.
The way they gunned down the bad guys in the name of retribution and how they ended the nightmare for Rose, Grace, Violet and Iris was super satisfying.
I am very much looking forward to reading Adam's book.

As always H.J. Marshall killed it. If you are a sensitive reader maybe skip this one, but if dark and gritty is what you are looking for this is the book for you.
Violet had a rough childhood to start with and spent most of her life looking for her sister. When trouble comes knocking on her door it not only bring Needles into her life but a niece as well.
Needles "Monroe" is a part of the Death Hounds MC and has been trying to forget the past he escaped, but now he has to face his real life demons to save the woman he loves.
This story has so many turns and angst. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. I can't wait for Jackals story. Need more Death Hounds in my life.

This was one gritty, intense, emotional ride for me. There were definite triggers for some people, and these made the story so much more heartbreaking. The strength of Violet, despite her lowered self-esteem due to her past, made her one of my favorite heroines. She wasn't one to trust completely, but she did love with her whole heart. Needles/Monroe was so gruff yet sweet with Violet and Iris. They had their steamy moments as well as touching moments. Looking forward to the next in the series as the secondary characters were great support.

This a quick read. The book hooks you from the beginning. This story centers around Monroe "Needles" and Violet.
Monroe is struggling with his short time with his mother. Violet is lost after her sister gets adopted. When Iris is found, Monroe vows to protect her from every evil in this world. When he discovers that Violet is Iris' aunt, he goes to her town to get her. When Violet finds out Iris, she wonders where her sister is. The same she finds out she has a niece, she is attacked and meets Needles. The connection is strong, she feels safe and for the first time no seen. Their relationship is amazing.

What is it with this author writing suck emotion filled books?I mean really there is only so much 1 person's heart can take. Don't get me wrong I love books that play with all of the emotions and tug on my heart. This author definitely knows how to do just that.
When Needles meets Violet he feels the need to protect her. His own past is awful and the pull he feels towards this young lady is intense. He will do whatever is necessary to protect her. Violet is on a mission to find what she lost so many years ago. Who would have thought that a chance meeting would bring these two happiness. Their road is filled with twists and turns in this page turner.

Man, another Rollercoaster of emotions from H J Marshall.
This book grabbed me hard and didn’t let go. I now sport a box of tissues on my bedside table, to keep me prepared for the tears, and the laughter. Needles and Violet are walking a tightrope, recognizing their love, supporting each other’s darkness. HJ Marshall skillfully incorporated obvious background research and sensitivity into this story, without losing the punchiness. In typical H J Marshall style, the breadcrumb trail keeps me hooked in the series. Can’t wait to find out what happens to “Noodles” aka Needles, Violet, and of course Rose and Iris.

This story is an angsty, age-gap that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Needles and Violets story is heartbreaking, yet heartwarming as well. Needles and Violet are both the light to each other's darkness and had an instant connection from the first moment they met. Needles felt an overwhelming urge to protect Violet and that is what I loved most about him. I loved this story for all the angst and darkness. If that's your jam, then this one is for you! I can't wait for more from the Death Hounds MC.

Another amazing Death Hounds book
The Death Hounds series of books makes me want to go find a MC to join...oh but if they were all like the Death Hounds. A family of hot,bad ass men true to their women and Death Hounds family. Needles,Violet,Iris and Roses's saga will make you cry and wanna hurt whoever hurt them. HJ Marshall's books do that to you. They suck you right in until you care about the characters in her books as much as she does. The books are raw and deal with subjects that may trigger some readers but in the end good does win over evil...every time.

Third book in the Death Hounds MC. Violet is a twin. She was separated at the age of 12 with her sister rose. Years later she finds out she’s an aunt. Someone tries to kidnap violet so her cousin steps up to help. Adam belong to the Death Hound Mc where she meets Needles. One look at violet and his lost. His found his home. Violet and needles story is perfect. Both coming from a violet past. Together they fine love and a amazing family club.

This is the third book in the Death Hounds MC and is just as gritty as the previous, Needles grew up with the MC until his mother stole him from them, escaping he made his way back to his family and the brotherhood. When a young girl is saved and needs protection with the club it leads to Violet and a connection into Needles's past.

My heart absolutely shatters for Violet and Needles and what they have to go through. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat flipping your pages. Needles has this overwhelming compulsion to protect Violet, that’s what I love about the men of this MC. That instant connection the need to protect their women. Both are the light to each other’s darkness and they both have some darkness in their pasts. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!!

Needles(Noodles) is one of the best books I’ve read this year. His past isn’t all sunshine and rainbows but the club keeps him sane. Iris makes him determined to keep everyone safe. When Violet enters the picture, all bets are off. He must have her because he needs her. Excellent writing.
