Wow! This was one intense story full of pain and sorrow, heartbreak, suspense and had a cast of intriguing characters. A page turner to say the least that had one whopping cliffhanger.
Chain was one complicated character, his past was full of pain and devastation. Part of the foster system that let him down, which bore consequences of him having to look over his shoulders constantly just to survive. Chains aka Nick or Nicholas finally found a family when he joined the Grimm Wolves MC, and he will do anything to protect his family at all cost but, one thing he did gain is he has a family to watch his back now and also Jackson he may not be a member but, he too has his back. Chains is full of secrets, a man of mystery.
So many unexpected events and surprises, Winnie and Jackson being some of them. I have to say we loved the story heart-wrenching, and we still a lot of unanswered questions that still need to be answered but, one thing is for sure, he needs sh** or get off the pot when it comes to Jackson and Winnie once and for all what he is doing to them is downright cruel.
Without giving away the story, as much as I loved it, I have to ask why the author made Chain's seem like a weakling and that all of his common sense and protective instincts and that sharp mind of his that defends his club left him at parts of the story. Where was that guy? The guy men and women fear? Chains is a legend and people who are harda**es themselves know of him, even fear that man. We are wondering if that man just disappeared because if anybody deserved the title of being a bada** it was a boy called Wilder.
Can't wait to see how things play out...

Series readers have watched Chains from the sidelines, getting little glimpses along the way making him that much more mysterious. In this book gives us an up close and personal look at the complex man.
Spending his entire life looking over his shoulder and planning the next escape just in case it was needed. A young life in the foster system was not good to Nicholas forcing him to grow up way too fast, to do things nobody should ever be forced to do. The only good things he got out of foster care was his two best friends and lovers Jackson and Winnie. Running from foster care with survival and taking care of the other part of his triad was his only concern. He has done much he isn't proud of but these things have made him the man he is today.
Respected brother of the Grimm Wolves MC. A small feeling of belonging and home is all he will allow himself. Keeping Jackson and Winnie at arms length and not giving into the wants of his heart for fear of peoples opinions and someone searching them out to hurt him.
This part one of the story is raw and painful to read at times. D.M. is going to break your heart, give you little tiny hopes and have you begging for Nicholas to make it out of this situation so he can fight for the things he deserves. We just pray he is strong enough to make it to the finish line.
Some new fresh characters who I am sure will stick around and bring us new adventures.
It's going to be a touch time waiting until June to finish Chains story.

This is the third full length book in the series. If focuses on Chains and his partners. Someone from Chains past is back and causing all kinds of chaos. The problem is they have taken him. No one knows who or where he could be. Stitch can’t get a read on him. Chains has no idea who has taken him or why either. They obviously know things about his past. Things aren’t adding up. He is being tortured and messed with. Things get even more interesting when he meets one of the other guys being held. He looks so much like someone he loves. Can they manage to escape? And if they do, can they get away safely? They have no idea where they are. This book was such a great read. It was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster ride. Chains has been through so much already. His past has shaped so much of who he is. They only bright part for Chains is that he has finally decided to stop hiding and running from his feelings for Jackson and Winnie. If he manages to get back to them he will let them in all the way and be fully in with them. This book does end on a cliff hanger so be prepared. Fantastic job D.M. Earl. I can’t wait to read the next book.

I have been hooked on this series since book one so I was more then ready to get my hands on this new installment. This time we get to know Chains, the MC Enforcer, who has secrets that he keeps to himself. This is not a problem until he is pretty much kidnapped making it necessary for his crew to figure things out by the clues sent to them. This makes for a very suspenseful read that will have you turning the pages until you hit the end wishing there was more. Quite the fun read I must say. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

Omg, this is a fabulous read, emotional and heartbreaking in parts I couldn't put it down, it is Chain's story, he is the Enforcer for the Grim Wolves MC and has a few secrets that have turned up and come crashing back into his life, but this isn't all, there is a second book coming which I hope will have all the answers.

A Damaged Soul
Chains is the enforcer for the Grimm Wolves MC and has been living a life where he keeps part of it hidden from his club. He spent his time in foster care and garnered two best friends from it, Jackson and Winnie, while the rest of it was a nightmare. Now that nightmare has come back and taken him from the club who are stopping at nothing to get the loved Chains back.
This book was heartbreaking at times but sure kept me on the edge of my seat. I have loved this series and can’t wait for more.

Chain's story is heartbreaking. This installment of The Grimm Wolves MC had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It was absolutely heart wrenching to read about all that Chains went through in the foster care system. He's the enforcer and is supposed to be big and tough and he is but there's a softer side of him too. He's pushing away those he loves the most because he's worried about what will happen if it all comes out. This book has so many twists and turns that I didn't see coming and the end had me gasping out loud and dying to read the next part of this story!

This is the 5th book in this series and I love it. I always get hooked on a good MC series. This book was so raw and dark I could not put it down I needed to know what came next, it will have you hanging on the edge. Can't wait for the next book.

Love this series. Chains is literally a tormented soul and has never let go of his past. His two best friends he’s had since they were all in foster homes together. Over time, it turned into more. People from his past are out to destroy him but being the man he is, chains shows just how strong he really is once again. This book will break your heart and put it back together. I love how the club always has his back no matter what. I can’t wait for the next book

Readers have met Chains in previous Grimm Wolves MC books. He's been an intriguing enigma with a hard outer shell and seemingly no heart. As the club's enforcer, he personifies the mean, scary biker, but those who truly know him see beyond that persona. He's been very closed off, even with his MC brothers, about his history and his past has broken the man in many ways. Because of it he feels he doesn't deserve love or happiness and when he lets himself feel anything even close to those feelings he pushes the people he's closest to away. Fear isn't an emotion Chains is comfortable with. He inflicts fear but when feeling for Winnie and Jackson threaten to engulf him his fear and past has him running from them. He also fears the MC brothers won't accept the truth about his lifestyle as part of a triad and he'll lose his position in the club. However, he wasn't expecting the fear and pain someone from his past inflicts on him.
Growing up in foster care, the young Nick (Chains) sees and experiences more than any child should. Put in a household with the vilest foster parents imaginable, his only saving graces are Winnie and Jackson. In a horrible situation, Nick is forced to do the unthinkable to get himself and the other children out of the hellhole they live in. Chains has intrigued me from the first book and I wanted to know his story, little did I know just how much story he has. This is book one of his story and I can't wait to read the rest of it. Ms. Earl has created a twisted road for Chains but the ride so far is amazing. While this book could be read as the first of the duet, it would be more satisfying if you started the series from the beginning. It's quite a ride.

March 31, 2022As a fan of MC-themed books I was quickly captivated by this book from the very first page to the last courtesy of the gritty, steamy, and heartbreaking journey of Nicholas (Chains) from his childhood spent in foster care until now. In a story that flashes back in time to present-day, readers get to see the traumatic experiences of his youth that made him the man he is today and the negative feelings he has about himself because of all he had to do to survive. Moments of blood and rage are balanced with the moments of the escapism he lets himself have with the only two bright spots of his youth...Jackson and Winnie. These two shared the nightmares of foster care with Nicholas, gave him a reason to keep living, and throughout the years they've evolved from a trio of friends to a triad. They're the only thing keeping Chains sane, keeping him from getting lost in the darkness living in him, but his fears of how others would view him have him keeping them his dirty little secret.
Slowly though Chains' past is catching up to him. When someone from his past starts waging a war of revenge that starts with a revealing of truths to kidnapping him to reap their revenge on in person, things turn particularly dark. Chains might have always felt unworthy of love but it quickly becomes obvious how many people care about him as every brother in the Grimm Wolves MC, along with Jackson and Winnie, rush to find him before he's completely lost to the darkness. With Chains' kidnapping the story becomes a dark, raw, and twisting tale that will have readers trying to figure out whodunit while on the edge of their seats fearing for Chains. Jackson (lawyer to the MC) and Winnie are equally on edge as they try to remember their own past along with what Chains did throughout their time apart from him. The fear they feel is palpable, as is their love for him and all he did to keep them safe and cared for. The MC is also desperate to find him while trying to keep their Club safe from this dangerous and twisted enemy.
This was a fast-paced read, one that actually had my heart racing at times. Chains is a complex character, one who did a lot of unsavory things to survive, but he also has a loving heart hiding behind all that blood and rage. My heart broke for all that he endured in life and it sometimes made it difficult to read. Instead of seeing his past as a reason why he's UNdeserving of love and happiness, I’m rooting for him to accept that BECAUSE of his painful past he DESERVES a HEA. Now he just needs to make it out alive for true healing to begin. Throughout this story readers get a few erotic interludes as we see the strong bond this triad has, see their love and unwavering support for each other. Readers also get to see the other brothers in the MC, see their playful interactions, as well as the determined protection they give one another. The brothers are an engaging group, one who I look forward to seeing more of with the next installment in this series. On a whole this is a darn near perfect book that I highly recommend and I'm now left breathlessly awaiting what happens next!

Wow! This was brutal and not for the faint of heart. I love a gritty MC story and this one is that and so much more. The Wolves Enforcer, Chains has hidden his romance relationship for years but it’s out when he is kidnapped and pictures arrive to out him. Yup, he’s in love with a woman and a man. His childhood friends from an abusive foster home are with him in a polygamous relationship. Holy cow, those were some tough scenes as these youngsters were tortured in a house of pain. We learn all about Chains past that filled with horrific torment from foster homes to the street to prison where a couple of brothers show him a different way of life. MC brotherhood. The Grim Wolves are his salvation along with his loves, Winnie and Jackson. The love between the three is so evident. Everything is turned upside down when Chains is kidnapped and tortured by unknown assailants. It’s gruesome and goes on forever. We met a new character in a captive named Wilder that has a tie to Chains. There’s a lot of mystery and intrigue around the kidnappers and villains behind Chains’ captivity. It’s a grim hunt for Chains when the club pulls in favors to find him. Chains was in his head a lot of the time with flashbacks of his past. Some of it was repetitive for me and bogged down a little. The pain and torture was horrifying and cringe worthy. Just when the paced picked up and the end was it sight things upended with a huge cliffhanger. Ugh! I wasn’t expecting that. I really liked this group of brothers and their family as the club moves to a more legit side of business. This was a dark story with a brutality that was painful to read. I loved the romance, even though there wasn’t very much, between Chains, Winnie and Jackson. I look forward to the next installment in this gritty MC series. Worth the read!

I've been waiting for this book for a while now, and let me tell you. As soon as it arrived on my kindle I had to start it.
D.M. Earl has captured my attention since the first book that I've read.
Everyone knows that I love MC books and this series nailed it.
Her writing is raw, wild, intense, dark, and so much in between.
A Tormented Man's soul is the fifth book from the Grimm Wolves MC series and you must read it from the beginning.
Despite the fact that this book is a standalone, some events take place in the previous books so just go for it

Chains in the Enforcer for the Grimm Wolves MC.
He's a closed-off guy, super reserved and dark.
His past made him the way he is but that can be lonely.
His mission is to protect his MC brothers and their families. He'll do everything to protect them.

I have been reading this series since book number 1, and each time I am hooked and amazed by the amazing writing. The author is very good at what they do, and craft a engaging story that gives you a lot of feels and emotions, and most certainly, this was a book I could not put down. Very compelling!
This one follows the lines of the other books in the series. This time around, Chains and his story is finally told. I have patiently waited for his story for quite some time. I knew had a a lot of layers that must have been caused by past stuff, but I never imagined it would go as deep as this story allowed it to go! The past truly haunts him, but the 2 souls that care abut him help him even in his darkest times and darkest hours. It was really beautiful in truth to read that. I enjoyed reading and learning of Chains and all he had to undergo. It really made me feel for him. I defiantly sensed as well as felt the strong character development. This book alone was a must read. Defiantly worth picking up and giving it a read!

I enjoyed reading and learning of Chains and all he had to undergo. It really made me feel for him. I defiantly sensed as well as felt the strong character development. This book alone was a must read. Defiantly worth picking up and giving it a read!
Amazing series, and this installment was a freaking wow factor type of read. Highly recommend this series if you have not read the prior books. This book alone was amazing and full of spirit and emotion. Not one to be passed up by any means. Highly recommend this must read book/series!

This book has just become my favourite of the series, so far- but it ends on a cliffhanger- so I really need the next book STAT.
A Tormented Man’s Soul: Part One is the fifth book in the Grimm Wolves MC series by D.M Earl. As the title would suggest, this book will tug on your heartstrings, as we follow our tormented MC. I really felt for him, but there were times I wanted to shake him. His past and secrets reallly weighed heavily on his soul. He has such an intimidating and scary reputation and appearance- but inside he is in turmoil. Secrets can be so toxic as we discover, add plenty of tension, danger, angst, and heartaching emotion and this story kept me completely invested in all the developments, right till the end- leaving me clamouring for more. The story is set to continue in the next instalment, so I will be diving into that as soon as it hits my Kindle.
I really recommend reading the previous books in the series before embarking on this journey, as there are recurring characters and pertinent information, backstory, and important information contained there that will help you to better appreciate this story… and any yet to come.
If you love intriguing MC romance with an original spin- emotion, drama, danger brotherhood, bonds, tension, and banter- then this is definitely the story/series for you.

Nicholas, aka Chains, didn't have a delightful childhood having been placed in one of the worst foster homes for any child so he has a lot of deep internal scars. He actually lets those demons take over his decision making when it comes to his personal life, and while understandable, I still wished he let those who love him in for some light in his life. One thing he does love is becoming a brother in the Grimm Wolves MC, especially since it's the only good thing he'll allow himself which had me ready to cry on one hand, but wanted to shake him on the other to be honest. His life is dangerous of course, and it gets ugly for him while breaking my heart all over again as his MC is rushing to find him before it's too late but they don't have all the information because of the secrets he has. Will he finally allow himself to have the happiness he deserves if he gets out of it alive?! You know what to do, but please understand there are some triggers in these pages, and if you're okay with that, I then have to say your heart will never be the same! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This book grabs you, drags you in, throws you around and spits you out. The characters and storyline is deep. A Dark Romantic Suspense is exactly what it is, and some people may find it has triggers.
WE follow Chains (Nicky), Jackson and Winnie and their triad relationship, digging up the past and moving onto the future.
Their abusive and dramatic past, in care (where they are abused both sexually and mentally) is brought to the present when Chains is abducted and his past comes repeats itself.
Winnie and Jackson are fraught waiting for news of the third member of their triad. The MC family pull together to find their missing Enforcer, support his family and are shocked to hear what they have lived through and why they are as close as they are.
There is a big veil of uncertainty as no one knows who is behind the abduction, it is someone who knows the threesome and their past, someone who has access to people and places, and someone who does not have morals, and they are not above hurting children or adults. Can they get the answers they need to solve the issue and find their missing man?
Other MCs come to their aide and I hope that the author expands the books to include these amazing characters. We meet people from Chains past that were assumed dead, people who are survivors and supporters of in these situations.
This book is amazing and I am glad I can go straight on to read the second part as the story certainly needs to be concluded. I found it difficult to put the book down, but found myself needing to take a break as the dark side of the writing needed to sink in.

This is the fifth book in this series which I have loved reading from the first. I highly suggest reading all of this series to help your enhancement of this author’s writing skills as well as her characters. This is a series that just keeps getting better and better with every book. This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. I love being pulled into the story from the beginning by the characters. They are connectable, strong and supportive to each other. I enjoyed how the author brought them to life which just added to the story. This is a well written story that will take you on an emotional roller coaster as well as a dark romance journey. I loved Chains and he is my favorite of the story. He is hot, steamy and I really felt for him as he is so tormented. The growth of the characters as well as the plot is great throughout the story which made it easy and entertaining to read. This is a hard to put down story that is fast paced and engaging. I loved reading this book and I highly recommend it. You don’t want to miss what happens in this story.

Another phenomenal addition to this series. In this heartbreakingly beautiful page turner we finally get Chains’s story and it is so much more than I expected. This is a journey through pasts and present full of heartbreak, loss, love, and moving on. With the help of his two loves and his club Chains slowly opens up and starts to believe he doesn’t have to hide part of who he is from his club brothers.
The author done a fabulous job with this one. It sucked me in from page one and I couldn’t put it down. I laughed out loud, I screamed, and I cried throughout this book. Hands down one of my favorite from the series so far.

WOW! Intense is the word I would use to describe this story! I would also say it is a bit dark, devious and shows the heart of family and friends. There are very powerful emotions that are felt by the characters as well as the reader. I devoured this book in record time and now am eagerly awaiting the continuation.
The characters are deep and we get a look at their pasts and present. Chains had me in agony for him more than once and I did tear up. I enjoyed the viewpoints, thoughts and feelings from others either in the MC or people they come across. It really shows how endless the love is in this story.
I have mixed feelings about the female of the triad. I am hoping she redeems herself and grows a backbone in the second half. She just seemed very wimpy but maybe i am missing something. She doesn't need to be hard, just not so much crying, maybe some strength. That is my only negative critique about the story.

I was so happy to finally get a book about Chains. We’ve been learning bits and pieces about him throughout the series. In the last book, we found out more about his past that left me intrigued to find out more. Chains has a hard time melding his two worlds together. As the enforcer of the MC, he believes that he should be tough and without weakness. If his brothers ever found out about his other life, he fears that they would never accept him. He’s terrified that he would lose the only stability in his life, his brothers. Keeping secrets is never a good idea and in his case it is life threatening.
This book is definitely a page turner. Filled with drama and suspense, pain and devastation. I was on edge the whole time. The author added some surprises in this book and a twist to the ending. Warning: this book is heartbreaking and ends on a cliffhanger. I’m anxiously waiting for the next book.

I dove into this book having not read the previous books. WOW, Seriously, WOW, that is all I can say at the moment!! It is intense, painful, tragic, heartbreaking, and yet, so so beautiful. The connection between Chains, Winnie, and Jackson developed long ago. There is so much love there will being to be shared, but the costs seem so high. The trouble with the club, past history, and strange parts of life collide in a story that will leave you wondering if you can finish it before your alarm goes off!
The Grimes Wolves MC has a myriad of characters that I am looking forward to diving into as I backtrack this series. This book is not for the faint of heart and those with triggers need to be aware. Great read and highly recommend diving into the Grimes Wolves MC!! @theoriginalmrsp

We are now at book 5 part 1 of this raw and gritty and broke my heart. It is full of emotions, pain, and sorrow, heartbreak, and crushed and tormented soul.
Chains the club's enforcer is one scary biker, but deep inside he is broken and haunted. Now this mysterious and complex enigma is finding his past is slowly catching up with him and he doesn’t know how his brothers, his family will react when they find out. Will he lose it all?
Groan - It ends abruptly on a Cliffhanger ready for part 2.

A Tormented Man’s Soul (Book 5) by D.M. Earl is literally the amazing. I loved this book from start to finish (well almost finished meaning there is part two). I can’t wait for the next part to come out. Until then, I am going to read Books 1-4. So in this book, it’s a story of Nicky (aka Chains), Jackson and Winnie. I really wished I had started the series from Book 1, I did connect with Nicky in this story. It’s so relatable to things that could happen. I don’t want to give anything away, but I will tell you that you will feel how Nicky/Chains feels. You will want to cry knowing part of his story and part of Jackson and Winnie’s stories as well. I definitely don’t think their story is over yet.

I am thoroughly enjoying this series. This is Chains story, he is the Enforcer of the Grimm Wolves MC. Chains has been through a lot in his life from growing up in an awful foster home which has left him scarred. Jackson and Winnie are the two people who helped through the hardest time of his life and the three of them are extremely close. Chains has been hiding a part of his life from his MC family. This book is full of emotion, suspense, love, family, danger and so much more. This author draws you right into the story and keeps you entertained through its entirety. I cannot wait for the next part because I am now hooked and need to know what happens. This is a book and series you don't want to miss out on.

Not saying much about this book, but boy, was it intense. Hearing about Winnie, Jackson, and Chains tragic past, everything that Chains was and is going through, all broke mt heart and had tears in my eyes. Definitely worth reading but prepare for the pain and anguish. Can't wait until Part Two.

This was the first time I had read a book in this dramatic series by the best-selling author, D.M. Earl. Although the book can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone story, it is best to read it as part of the "Grimm Wolves MC" series. In book 5, "A Tormented Man's Soul," this emotional story where I found my emotions were pulled in many directions by the main character, Chains. As the Enforcer in the MC, Chains is written to be both mysterious and complex, possessing dark, mysterious qualities, which I found appealing. It seemed I filled in the missing pieces of his character with my imagination. Having had a difficult childhood, followed by the turmoil suffered during his adult life, just made him more enduring. Be sure to have everything you need beside you because you won't want to leave this book until you finish reading it!
