I define myself as a novelist writing for the global age. My parents made Atlanta our home, my grandmother made Mysore a home of another sorts, and I chose to make New York, Madrid, Lisboa, Sao Paulo, Cuzco, Delhi, Mombasa, Tokyo, Istanbul, Yogyakarta, Bangalore, Shanghai, Moscow, and Cairo my homes. At the moment, I have traveled to 140 countries in a decade, lived in 25 different corners of the planet, and speak 12 languages. I currently live in Mumbai.

I am the author of we of the forsaken world... (Iguana Books, 2020), the Portuguese-language story cycle Afora Adentro (Editora Labrador, 2020), the Spanish-language poetry collection Autobiografia (Letrame Editorial, 2019) the Mandarin-language poetry collection Kiran Speaks (White Elephan

I personally believe the globe is inside of all of us, and our ability to connect and think globally comes from our ability to choose to view humans innately for what they are, rather than seeing them for how we choose to perceive them. If the global is the individual, and the individual becomes the cosmic, then the cosmic is the global.

At the same time, I think travelling made it much easier for me to start to see humans in a deeper context, because I got to see so many shades of the human experience. I think a city like New York or London is great if you want to see all of the skin shades of the world, but diversity isn't just skip deep. It's also about being formed in all of the different ways humans can be, and I think to see that, one has to have travelled.(less)

“In an ideal world, as connectivity progresses, each human of our world would function the way a cell functions in a human body. We would see each other in the context of our individuality but realise how our individual actions both directly and indirectly affect the greater Earth. It would be as if our Atmans (our individual spirits) could merge into a Brahmin (a cosmic unity)”
Kiran Bhat, We of the Forsaken World...

“God knows I have met with the most eccentric of characters to be seen in a village as small as this one, but when elders meet with youngsters, it is common for the elders to do all of the talking and for the youngsters to sit quietly and await their judgment.”
Kiran Bhat, We of the Forsaken World...

“Love is one of those things little children dream about, but something which no woman of age will experience…”

Kiran Bhat Thanks for expressing your interest! I hope you like the book!

Ginney Etherton Yes I am interested. I just ordered the Kindle version, but it will take me another week or so before I can begin reading your book. It sounds intriguing, and your write-up is very well written, which doesn’t happen very often. Thank you for the notification.
