ABOUT US
GeoScience Consultants (GSC) is a small business providing consulting and research services for coastal environmental, cultural, and geologic projects. The mission of GSC is to help organizations assess, understand, and solve geotechnical, environmental, and cultural resource problems to address public safety and ensure cultural integrity. GSC is able to accomplish these missions quickly and effectively by using a geospatial and geologic techniques in concert. GSC has substantial experience in reviewing, assessing, developing, and implementing many types of coastal projects, from shoreline erosion to historic cultural reconstruction.
Keil Schmid has 20 years experience in geological/engineering/mapping fields and is the owner of Geoscience Consultants. He has worked for and with government agencies and private firms. He led the coastal geology program for the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality and the Coastal Elevation Mapping program for IM Systems Group at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Coastal Services Center. He was also a Project Engineer with Ocean and Coastal Consultants where he provided a wide-range of technical/geo-technical expertise.
In short, the combined geologic/engineering technical background and government/private industry management background helps us provide clients a broad understanding of both the technical and business aspects of coastal restoration and development projects.
