Adaptive Management (AM) can be particularly useful in complex and protracted emergency contexts, yet humanitarian organizations have not embraced adaptive approaches as readily as the development sector, often due to the belief that the need for change is a failure of the initial needs assessment or a reflection of poor practice.

Join SCALE and IDEAL to hear the experiences of speakers from Uganda and Burma (Myanmar), who have unique perspectives on adaptive management for markets and livelihoods work in emergency contexts. We will also have early research insights from the upcoming State of the Humanitarian System report and perspectives on how adaptive management impacts humanitarian action.

Speakers:

  • Florence Randari, Strategic Learning and Adaptive Management Lead, Mercy Corps
  • Cuan Opperman, Chief of Party, Agriculture and Food Systems Development Activity (AFDA), ACDI/VOCA
  • Alice Obrecht, Head of Research and Impact, ALNAP

This webinar will also introduce SCALE's briefs on adaptive management for livelihoods in emergencies, which provide a snapshot of the current literature on AM for livelihoods in emergency contexts and a stable of tools to help you get started.

Register for the webinar to learn more about the briefs:

Lessons from IDEAL's Adaptive Management Case Studies will also be featured.

This webinar will be conducted in English with French interpretation.
