Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. said Fidelma Russo will join the company as Chief Technology Officer, charged with leading the company’s innovation efforts and managing the design and development of the company’s GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform.
Russo joins from VMware, where she was vice president and general manager of the company’s Cloud Services business unit. Prior to that, she led the global technology organization for storage and information management services company Iron Mountain, and has also served as a senior vice president for enterprise storage and software at Dell EMC.
She takes over for Kumar Sreekanti, who last month announced plans to leave the company.
Russo’s appointment comes as HPE accelerates its efforts to create more cloud-like experiences for its customers. In 2019, HPE said it planned to deliver its entire portfolio through subscription, pay-per-use, and as-a-service offerings, in addition to more traditional delivery models, by 2022. Last month, CEO Antonio Neri called the accelerated transformation effort his number-one priority.
Part of that acceleration included the creation of a GreenLake platform development team, reporting to the CTO’s office. The platform offers a range of cloud services including compute, storage, networking, container management, machine learning and data protection.
“Fidelma brings deep expertise in cloud services, software, and infrastructure built on an extensive career in technology,” Neri said in a statement. “Her diverse experience makes her distinctively suited to drive innovation as we accelerate our transformation and bring differentiated solutions to the market.”
