About this event

In celebrating our LGBTQ+ Healthcare Week, join the CCNY LGBTQ+ Student Center and the CUNY School of Medicine's PA Club for a FREE interactive 2-hour training on crystal meth, facilitated by Tabytha Gonzalez from Ballroom We Care, Inc. The training will provide:

  • A history of crystal meth
  • Identifying signs and symptoms
  • An overview on crystal meth's introduction into the House and Ballroom Community (HBC) and black and brown communities
  • Harm reduction strategies
  • A discussion on substance use and COVID-19
  • Culturally relevant resources.

Open to ALL CUNY students, staff, and faculty!

BALLROOM, WE CARE INC. is a NYC organization dedicated to providing support, education, awareness, and culturally competent resources to the Ballroom community struggling with crystal meth use and mental health-related illness.

About our facilitator: Tabytha Gonzalez is the TGNB Community Engagement Coordinator of Ballroom, We Care. Her dedication and passion for the community stem far beyond her volunteerism at Ballroom, We Care. Tabytha Maison Margiela is the Principle Founder of the Margiela Matters Initiative. She is along time member of Ballroom as well as an Associate Human Rights Specialist with the NYC Commissions on Human Rights. Where she helps to foster protections and policies to eradicate injustice for the LGBT community. With a host of other important TGNB and Ballroom community led endeavors, Tabytha has proven to be resilient in her work, and focuses primarily on advocating and improving the quality of life for the individuals she serves.

This event is made possible through the generous support of LaGuardia Community College and the New York City Council Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual Caucus. This event will be recorded and archived at the LaGuardia and Wagner Archives.
