About this event

Greater Tucson Leadership is teaming up with the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona to help our local nonprofit organizations connect with potential board members. If you are interested in serving on a nonprofit board, please join us on Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 4-6 p.m. at the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, 5049 E. Broadway Blvd.

We’ll kick off the session with a 45 minute presentation by Laura Alexander and Jenny Carrillo, Tucson consultants who work extensively with nonprofits keen on building better boards. They’ll provide an overview of board service—roles, responsibilities, expectations --and advise participants interested in board service to help them assess which organization(s) are a good fit for their gifts and talents.

Then we’ll provide an opportunity for you to connect with local nonprofits who are in need of strong board leadership. It’s not exactly like “speed dating” but think of it more like an exhibit area where nonprofits have staffed tables with materials about their organizations and a way to gather names and contact information from potential board members and volunteers. Attendees will stop by the tables that interest them and engage in relaxed discussions about service opportunities—boards, committees, task forces, and hands-on volunteer work, as applicable. Since it is a two-way street, both the nonprofits and potential volunteers will have a chance to assess a potential relationship and determine if it’s a good fit.

If you are interested in attending, please RSVP by Monday, Nov. 1. There is no charge to participate in this event. For more information, please contact Greater Tucson Leadership CEO Kasey Hill at kasey@greatertucsonleadership.org.
