CERTIFICATED PERSONNEL DUTIES TITLE: Speech Specialist EVALUATED BY: Director of Special Youth Services BASIC FUNCTIONS: Identifies, assesses, and remediates students who have problems in the area of communication. TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provides specialist to remediate deficits in the area of speech and language problems. 2. Holds conferences with parents of students with speech and language problems. 3. Acts upon referrals from teachers, counselors, parents, nurses and administrators. 4. Maintains proper attendance records and reports. 5. Serves as a resource person on screening committees for students in special programs. 6. Offers in-service training. 7. Consults with and refers to outside services and agencies 8. Keeps case records and folders. 9. Assists teachers of special programs (LH, CH, PH, SH). 10. Provides a structured program for the student to pursue on his/her own time 11. Keeps channels of communication and source of referrals open with elementary "feeder" schools. 12. Organizes work and develops a schedule for servicing students. 13. Requests transportation for students as necessary. 14. Assists in the implementation of new programs and procedures. 15. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others. 16. The following credential will be required for this position: Preliminary or Clear Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential - Language, Speech and Hearing. A new hire SLP qualifies for the following stipends: Speech-Language Pathologist Stipend: $2,928 (annual) Additional stipends if the SLP holds the following: CA Speech Pathology License: $1,172 (annual) Certificate of Clinical Competence: $ 1,172 (annual)
