Natalia Andrea Guerra-Ceron

This Year's Contest Winner:

"My full name is Natalia Andrea Guerra-Ceron, my age is 15, and I live in Des Moines, Iowa. What inspired me when creating my art piece was the news and stories I saw starting in 2020. I wanted to present the feelings of those struggling in 2020 through the pandemic and the social injustice."

The Des Moines Civil & Human Rights Commission announced a youth logo design contest for our 2022 Civil & Human Rights Symposium! The purpose of this contest was for our community’s youth or youth groups/organizations to create a design or an identity mark that illustrates the symposium theme, “Innovative Inclusion: Reconnecting & Rebooting for Social Justice”. Our theme is a metaphor about the COVID-19 pandemic and events of 2020 in response to social injustice, and other barriers that continue to overburden our marginalized community members.

This contest was open to residents of the City of Des Moines, Iowa, who are be between the ages of 13-21.

The winning design entrant will receive $500 and will be featured in our symposium program book!
