Governor Polis Signing Bills to Save Coloradans Money, Cut Red Tape, Improve Public Safety, and Ensure Colorado Kids Can Thrive

DENVER - Governor Polis is signing bills into law today to help Coloradans keep more of their hard-earned money, ensure all Coloradans can live and thrive in safe and healthy communities, and support cutting-edge technology to drive innovation in Colorado’s thriving agriculture industry. 

“I am proud to sign these bills today that address the most pressing issues for Coloradans, from saving people money, to reducing costs for businesses, to improving public safety, supporting Colorado kids, and driving innovation, we are truly meeting the needs of the moment and building a Colorado for All,” said Gov. Polis. 

Acting on his commitment to save Coloradans money and ensure Colorado remains a business-friendly destination, Governor Polis will discuss the bipartisan SB22-234, a transformative new law sponsored by Rep. David Ortiz, Rep. Marc Snyder, Sen. Chris Hansen and Sen. Bob Rankin, providing real relief to Colorado businesses and workers and helping to shore up the unemployment insurance trust fund. Governor Polis will sign additional money saving measures into law, including SB22-220 sponsored by Rep. Julie McCluskie, Rep. Daneya Esgar, Sen. Chris Hansen, and Sen. Bob Rankin and HB22-1254 led by Rep. Alex Valdez, Sen. Faith Winter, Sen. Kevin Priola.

Governor Polis will sign legislation to ensure that Colorado kids are safe, healthy, and can thrive across our state, including HB22-1358 sponsored by Rep. Emily Sirota, Sen. Faith Winter, Sen. Rhonda Fields, HB22-1056 led by Rep. Dafna Michaelson Jenet, Rep. Serena Gonzales-Gutierrez, Sen. Dominick Moreno, and HB22-1375 sponsored by Rep. Dafna Michaelson Jenet and Sen. Janet Buckner, along with HB22-1319 led by Representatives Serena Gonzales-Gutierrez, Rep. Iman Jodeh, Sen. Julie Gonzales, HB22-1373 sponsored by Rep. Serena Gonzales-Gutierrez, Sen. Julie Gonzales, and HB22-1289 led by Rep. Serena Gonzalez- Gutierrez, Rep. Julie McCluskie, Senators Dominick Moreno, Sen. Rhonda Fields.

Governor Polis will also sign legislation to support programs that benefit Coloradans with a disability, sponsored by Rep. Leslie Herod, Rep. Kim Ransom, Sen. Chris Hansen, and Sen. Rachel Zenzinger.

Governor Polis will sign two new laws to bolster Colorado’s thriving agriculture industry and continue to drive innovation, signing HB22-1053 sponsored by Rep. Donald Valdez, Rep. Tonya Van Beber, and Sen. Chris Hansen, and SB22-025 led by Rep. Shannon Bird, Rep. Julie McCluskie, Sen. Chris Hansen. 

The Polis Administration is committed to saving Coloradans money, fighting for clean air, and  reducing drive time for Coloradans, and the development of a passenger rail along the Front Range is an innovative solution to meet these goals. Today, Governor Polis will sign a bipartisan new law led by Rep. Julie McCluskie, Sen. Chris Hansen, and Sen. Bob Rankin to bring this vision of a passenger rail for Colorado’s Front Range one step closer to becoming a reality. 

Governor Polis will sign legislation into law to make Colorado communities safer and ensure that Coloradans can live, work, and thrive in safe and healthy communities, including  HB22-1077 led by Rep. Dafna Michaelson Jenet, Rep. Iman Jodeh, Sen. Kevin Priola, and Sen. Chris Hansen, HB22-1314 sponsored by Rep. Naquetta Ricks, Rep. Edie Hooton, Sen. Julie Gonzales, Sen. Jerry Sonnenberg, HB22-1217 led by Rep. Adrienne Benavidez, Rep. Rod Bockenfeld, Sen. Joann Ginal, and SB22-009 sponsored by Rep. Adrienne Benavidez, Rep. Shannon Bird, Sen. Joann Ginal, and Sen. Dennis Hisey. 

The Polis Administration has been committed since day one to making State operations more efficient and effective, including reducing the square footage of office space by 1 million square feet over the next three years, cutting costs and improving employee retention and morale. Continuing to support these goals, Governor Polis will sign the bipartisan SB22-239 led by Rep. Daneya Esgar, Rep. Hugh McKean, Sen. Dominick Moreno, and Sen. Cleave Simpson to save money and ensure safe working environments for Colorado’s efficient and high achieving legislators and state employees.

Colorado is making nation-leading improvements in infrastructure and today, Governor Polis will sign SB22-215 sponsored by Rep. Leslie Herod, Rep. Julie McCluskie, Sen. Chris Hansen, and Sen. Rachel Zenzinger, to ensure that Colorado is in the best position possible to take advantage of funding from the national Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Governor Polis will also sign HB22-1029 sponsored by Rep. Shannon Bird, Rep. Shane Sandridge, Sen. Chris Kolker, and Sen. Kevin Priola.
