Accelerating Climate Change Action Through Applied

Science and Tested Practices

The Science for Climate Action Network (SCAN) is a national network of leading scientists and practitioners who facilitate the application of science to support climate adaptation and mitigation solutions. SCAN uses a “community of practice” approach to convene scientists, stakeholders, and policymakers in sustained dialogue to identify leading practices in science-based risk management relevant for national, state, tribal, community-based, and private entities.

SCAN is working to establish a new public-private partnership focused on learning from the experience that communities across the nation are gaining as they implement adaptation and mitigation. Progress in addressing climate change fairly and effectively requires an approach that combines the strengths of federal and non-federal institutions and that works with existing adaptation professionals and networks.
