These vests are targeted towards registered pets. First off there is no registration for service dogs by ADA law and second off service dogs aren't pets. They are dogs with years of training who perform tasks to help their handlers. They are classified as medical equipment. We already have an issue with fake service dogs and this will make that issue worse. Fake service dogs risk our lifes and put our dogs in danger. It also risks the general public as these fakes have no training and alot are aggressive. Look at Ronin the 3 year old attacked by a fake service dog in Texas. We will have alot more cases like that if these vests stay on the shelfs. They need to be taken off the shelfs before anymore are sold. Walmart also needs to make it where the employees have to ask the two questions (1) "Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability?" and (2) "What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?" before entering and kick out those who say "emotional support" or "comfort". As those aren't Service dogs by law and have no public access rights. They need to train the employees to tell people to take dogs out of the carts as this is a health issue. If someone allergic to dogs gets the cart after them they will have an allergic reaction and service dogs can't perform tasks from a cart. They also need to be asked to remove the dog once they are out of control. That will also help eliminate most of the fakes and help save alot of the issues we have in the store. Which would keep not just us safe but the general public as well.
