Lebanese central bank chief denies ‘Ponzi scheme’
Salameh denies corruption and mismanagement charges, and says currency must float
Lebanon’s central bank governor Riad Salameh broke his silence to give a TV interview denying allegations of corruption and mismanagement over the country’s economic crisis.
Salameh has rarely made any public statements after he engaged in a furious public exchange with Lebanon’s then prime minister in April 2020. But he appeared in a 17-minute interview with French TV station France 24 on January 9.
The Lebanese governor used the interview to directly deny charges made by French president
