Twins' Austin Brice: Joins Twins
Brice signed a minor-league deal with the Twins on Thursday.
Brice spent spring training with the Phillies and appeared in two games with Triple-A Lehigh Valley before being released. He'll head to Double-A Wichita to begin his tenure with the Twins.

Twins' Max Kepler: Homers Thursday
Kepler went 2-for-4 with a home run, two total RBI and two total runs scored in Thursday's 11-1 win over the Mariners.
Kepler extended his hitting streak to 11 games -- he's recorded at least one hit in 15 of his last 16 contests, going 23-for-53 (.434) in that span. It's been quite a start to the year for the 31-year-old Kepler. He's now slashing .329/.390/.562 with three homers, 14 RBI and 11 runs scored through his first 21 games.

Twins' Pablo Lopez: Wins third straight
Lopez (4-2) earned the win Thursday over the Mariners, allowing one run on four hits over 6.1 innings. He struck out 10.
Lopez was excellent Thursday, holding Seattle to a lone second-inning run while recording a season-high 10 strikeouts. After an inconsistent start to the campaign, Lopez looks to be settling in -- he's won his last three starts while holding opponents to one run in back-to-back outings. He lowered his ERA to 3.89 with a 0.98 WHIP and a stellar 55:8 K:BB across eight starts (44 innings) this year. Lopez is currently slated for a home matchup with the Yankees in his next outing.

Twins' Daniel Duarte: Undergoes elbow surgery
Duarte underwent UCL revision surgery on his right elbow Tuesday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
It was known that Duarte was going to have an operation on his elbow, but the specific type of procedure hadn't been revealed until now. A normal timeline for return for this type of surgery is 14-to-16 months, so Duarte probably won't make it back until the second half of next season, in all likelihood.

Twins' Carlos Correa: Getting breather Thursday
Correa is out of the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Mariners.
Correa is getting a routine day off after he had started in all nine games for the Twins since he returned from the injured list April 29. Willi Castro will step in at shortstop in place of Correa, who popped a solo home run -- his second of the season -- in Wednesday's 6-3 win.

Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Not in lineup versus righty
Kirilloff is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.
Kirilloff had started every game this season versus right-handers, but he will begin Thursday's contest on the bench as Seattle sends righty Logan Gilbert to the hill. The lefty-hitting Kirilloff is hitless over his last six contests, which no doubt played a part in manager Rocco Baldelli's decision to give him a day off.

Twins' Jhoan Duran: Locks down third save
Duran earned the save in a win over the Mariners on Wednesday, pitching a perfect ninth inning while striking out one.
Duran entered the game with a 6-3 lead in the top of the ninth and needed nine pitches to record the first out. The right-handed reliever then managed to work his way back from a 3-0 count to retire Jorge Polanco on strikes for the final out of the game. It marked Duran's third save of the season, and he's now pitched a perfect inning in back-to-back appearances. He's also yet to walk a batter or allow a run across five innings.

Twins' Chris Paddack: Fans 10 for fourth win
Paddack (4-1) earned the win over the Mariners on Wednesday, allowing one run on eight hits and one walk while striking out 10 over 5.1 innings.
Paddack did a great job of mixing in off-speed pitches with his four-seamer early, which led to him striking out eight of the first 14 batters he faced. He would eventually surrender a solo home run to Mitch Garver in the fourth and actually allowed the leadoff man to reach in the fifth and sixth innings, but the right-hander was able to work his way through it and earn his fourth consecutive win. Paddack also matched his season high with 10 strikeouts in the contest and currently holds a 0.70 ERA in May to go along with a 16:2 K:BB. On the downside, he's also allowed eight or more hits in three of his last five outings.

Twins' Willi Castro: Smacks third home run
Castro went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two RBI during Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Mariners.
The 27-year-old hit a solo shot off George Kirby in the second inning to break an 0-for-11 stretch at the plate, and Castro's RBI triple in the fourth gave the Twins some extra insurance, making it a 4-1 ballgame. Castro is now slashing .346/.370/.692 with three RBI and three stolen bases across his last seven games.

Twins' Aaron Sabato: Returns from IL
Double-A Wichita reinstated Sabato (oblique) from its 7-day injured list Tuesday.
Sabato started at first base and enjoyed a big night in his return to the lineup in Wichita's 16-2 win over Arkansas, going 3-for-5 with a home run, two base hits, four RBI and two additional runs.

Twins' Brock Stewart: MRI on shoulder returns clean
Stewart said a recent MRI on his right shoulder "looked good," and he's hopeful to resume throwing this weekend, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Stewart was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday with right shoulder tendinitis, and fortunately for him, the injury doesn't look to be any more significant than that. If Stewart is able to resume playing catch this weekend, he would have an outside chance at returning from the IL when first eligible May 17. Stewart recorded an 0.68 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB across 13.1 innings while gathering seven holds in 13 appearances prior to landing on the shelf.

Santana will take a seat after going 0-for-5 with a walk through the first two games of the series with Seattle. Father Time may be starting to catch up with Santana, whose .588 OPS so far during the 2024 campaign would represent the worst mark of his career by 73 points.

Castro will start in center field and bat seventh for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.
It's the 21st staight start for Castro, who has also been in the lineup at shortstop, third base and in left field during that stretch. Third base and center field will likely be Castro's primary homes for the foreseeable future while Royce Lewis (quadricep) and Byron Buxton (knee) remain on the injured list.

Twins' Justin Topa: Undergoes MRI on knee
Topa underwent an MRI on his left knee after feeling soreness following his last rehab appearance with Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Topa was able to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, so his setback would appear to be a minor one. However, the reliever is still awaiting results of the MRI before the next steps are determined. Topa had been poised to be activated from the 15-day injured list soon before hitting a snag in his recovery.

He'll be given a breather while Christian Vazquez starts behind the plate. Jeffers has been an excellent No. 1 fantasy catcher for his managers this season, hitting .299 with seven home runs and 26 RBI.

Twins' Josh Staumont: Joins big-league bullpen
The Twins recalled Staumont from Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Staumont allowed five runs but turned in a 16:3 K:BB over 10.2 relief innings this season with St. Paul. If or when Staumont makes an appearance with the Twins, it will be his first in the majors since he had thoracic outlet syndrome surgery last July.
