  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Day off Friday

Springer isn't in the Blue Jays' lineup for Friday's game against San Diego.

Springer will catch a breather after going 2-for-10 with four walks during Toronto's previous series against the Yankees. While he sits, Cavan Biggio will shift to right field, allowing Davis Schneider to pick up a start at second base.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Snags third steal

Springer went 0-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in Monday's win over the Yankees.

The 34-year-old outfielder stole a career-high 20 bases in 2023, and he's off and running again to begin the current campaign. Springer has three steals in three attempts so far, with all three coming in the last six games. While his .215 batting average (14-for-65) is disappointing, his 11:10 BB:K suggests it's a product of bad luck, not a bad approach at the plate. Springer's added two homers, four RBI and nine runs in 17 games as Toronto's leadoff hitter.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Nabs two hits, swipes bag Sunday

Springer went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base in Sunday's 5-0 win over the Rockies.

Springer led off the bottom of the first inning with a base knock, later coming around to score on an RBI single from Justin Turner. The outfielder added another single in the fifth inning, and he swiped second base for his second stolen base of the year before scoring on another Turner hit. Springer has now recorded three multi-hit performances in his last five games, batting .333 with two RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases over that stretch.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Nabs first steal

Springer went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Mariners.

Outside of a couple early homers, the veteran outfielder had a sluggish start to the season, though Springer's bat seems to be coming around. He's collected six hits over the last five games with two doubles and three walks against only one strikeout, and Tuesday's steal was his first of the year while the RBI were his first since March 29.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Slugs second homer

Springer went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 8-2 loss to the Rays.

The veteran outfielder opened the scoring in the top of the third inning with his second homer in two games, this one off Aaron Civale, but his blast quickly got trumped by a Brandon Lowe grand slam in the bottom half of the frame. Springer has slugged more than 20 long balls in three straight seasons, but his quick start to 2024 offers some hope the 34-year-old might be headed for his first 30-homer campaign since 2019.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Hits first home run of season

Springer went 1-4 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored during Thursday's win over the Rays.

Springer kicked off the Blue Jays' scoring Thursday, delivering a solo homer off Zach Eflin in the fourth inning for the team's first run. While he wouldn't get another hit, Springer was walked in the seventh and eventually came around to score on a Bo Bichette double. Batting atop a stacked Toronto lineup once again this season, Springer should provide ample fantasy value as long as he can stay healthy.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Swipes first spring bag

Springer went 0-for-2 with two walks, a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates.

Getting the start in right field, Springer drew a walk from Roansy Contreras to lead off the game and promptly swiped his first base of the spring. The 34-year-old outfielder is looking good in camp, batting ,300 (6-for-20) with a 5:3 BB:K, and after posting his first career 20-20 season in 2023 despite a career-low .732 OPS, Springer figures to remain a key part of the Blue Jays' offense again in 2024.

Springer went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies.

The veteran outfielder took Matt Strahm deep in the sixth inning for his first homer of the spring. Springer hasn't seen a heavy workload in camp, appearing in five games and going 3-for-12 with a 3:3 BB:K. The Blue Jays deployed what could be their Opening Day lineup in Saturday's contest, and Springer was in his accustomed leadoff spot.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Will be club's leadoff hitter

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Thursday that Springer will remain the club's leadoff hitter in 2024, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Springer spent several weeks during the second half last season mostly battling fourth or fifth. However, he returned to his typical leadoff spot down the stretch and that's where his skipper says he'll begin the upcoming season. Schneider also noted that Springer is working on pulling the ball more in 2024. His pull rate was just 39.5 percent in 2023 after coming in at 48.3 percent in 2022 and 49.3 percent in 2021.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Resting in season finale

Springer is not in Sunday's lineup against the Rays.

Toronto will give several everyday players the day off in the season finale after clinching a spot in the postseason. Whit Merrifield is manning right field and leading off while Cam Eden gets a rare start in left.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Cranks 20th homer

Springer went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's win over the Yankees.

After going 1-for-20 in his previous five games, Springer got the Jays started early Tuesday with a leadoff homer off Clarke Schmidt in the opening frame. Springer's now hit at least 20 homers in three straight seasons and eight times overall in his 10-year MLB career. He's batting .257 with a .736 OPS, 81 runs scored, 65 RBI and 19 steals through 633 plate appearances this season.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Goes yard twice in win

Springer went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Royals.

Both homers were solo shots, as Springer took Zack Greinke deep in the fourth inning before he smashed a hanging slider from Angel Zerpa over the wall in right-center field in the seventh. It's the first multi-homer game of the season for Springer, who's batting .304 (38-for-125) since the beginning of August with six homers, six steals, 22 RBI and 23 runs, and the veteran outfielder now sits one long ball shy of his eighth career 20-homer campaign.
