2024 BU Summer Pre-Law Academy

BU Summer Pre-Law Academy (BU-SPLA), an LSAC Program, is a residential four-week summer program that will take place June 3-June 28, 2024. BU-SPLA is focused on countering structural and environmental forces that unevenly tax underrepresented students.

To accomplish this end, BU-SPLA will expose undergraduate students to legal cases, advocacy, and Critical Race Theory. Students will experience the Socratic classroom, read and brief cases, work in collaborative groups to represent a “client,” and make persuasive arguments. Students will also learn about the law admissions process and will be mentored while working on a personal statement, an optional statement, and a resume.

There is no cost to apply to or attend the program. Travel to and from Boston, housing during the program, and many meals will be covered. The program will host several social events on campus and outings in Boston. Additionally, all participants who successfully complete the program will receive a $1000 stipend and a fee waiver for LSAC programs and services.

BU Law faculty and staff will come together to teach and support BU-SPLA students and to provide a real glimpse into what it is like to be a law student at BU Law. We can’t wait to welcome you to campus!

The application is now open. Apply online at LSAC. You will need to use or create your LSAC account to log in. 

Once you have logged in to your account, scroll down to “Applying to Law Schools” and click on “Search for Schools”.  Click on the blue “Add LSAC-Member Law Schools” button under “Build Your School List”. Search for “LSAC Diversity, Equity and Inclusion”.  From there, you can select “Summer 2024-Plus Summer Program” to apply for the program.

The application deadline is March 20, 2024. Please note that other programs using the same application have a later deadline. Please apply by March 20th for consideration.

Selected participants will be notified in early April.
