On this tour, you’ll head to the Shaman Shrine, located around 25 minutes away from the city of Ulaanbaatar. At the shrine, you’ll learn about Mongolian shamanism and how it encompasses medicine, religion, nature and ancestor worship. You’ll learn about the history of shamanism and hear the stories from the 13th century when Genghis Khan was given divine status by a shaman.
You’ll also get insights into the male and female intercessors who are communicators between the human world and the spirit world and are known as Shamans and Shamanesses, respectively. Finally, you’ll learn about the hierarchy of the Mongolian clan-based society and their manner of worship.
