Mission, vision and core value

BPD Mission Statement

Mission: To always be respectful while keeping our community safe.

Vision: To be the most respected police department.

Core value: Respect. Demonstrated through our compassionate and honest service.

Chief's message

Chief Hodges

Here at the Bloomington Police Department (BPD) our core value is “Respect.”  Respect is at the core of everything we do. Simply put, because we always respect our community members and visitors, we will never show them disrespect and will protect both (those who are law abiding and those who chose not to follow the law).

We are a family here at BPD; we care for our community, and we care for each other. If we are the most respectful, we will be the most respected agency in the country.  As Chief, I take solace in doing everything I can every day to ensure that our civilian staff, sworn police officers, and police volunteers come to work in an environment that respects them for who they are so they can be their best selves both here at work and at home with their families. It is an honor to be the Police Chief for what I believe is the best law enforcement agency in America.

In respect,
