NEW YORK STATE ASSEMBLY
MEMORANDUM IN SUPPORT OF LEGISLATION
submitted in accordance with Assembly Rule III, Sec 1(f)

BILL NUMBER: A7245

SPONSOR: Simone
TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the public health law, in relation to authorizing the commissioner of health to make grants to be used for the costs of conducting a local blood donation drive   PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: Provides grants to encourage community blood drives.   SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Amends Public Health Law . 3100 to allow the Health Commissioner to make grants, within amounts appropriated, to not-for-profit organizations and elementary, secondary and postsecondary schools to help pay for the costs of conducting a local blood donation drive.   JUSTIFICATION: This bill would create a program of grants to help community groups and schools run blood drives.
