Division Spotlight
Mathematics & Computation
Division members promote the advancement of mathematical and computational methods for solving problems arising in all disciplines encompassed by the Society. They place particular emphasis on numerical techniques for efficient computer applications to aid in the dissemination, integration, and proper use of computer codes, including preparation of computational benchmark and development of standards for computing practices, and to encourage the development on new computer codes and broaden their use.

Framatome, KHNP to investigate producing Lu-177 in South Korea
Framatome and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding to explore the possibility of producing the medical isotope Lutetium-177 at KHNP’s Wolsong nuclear power plant in South Korea. The companies also will investigate the feasibility of using the plant to support Korean production of medical radioisotopes in the future.
DIA (Diversity & Inclusion in ANS) is committed to encouraging underrepresented persons to enter and flourish in the field of nuclear science and technology. In fulfilling this commitment, DIA will provide travel compensation of up to $1,000 for current underrepresented student members to attend the 2024 ANS Annual Conference taking place in Las Vegas, NV from June 16 - 19, 2024.The application is open to current student members of ANS who identify with underrepresented and historically excluded groups. Previous receipt of travel funding, though not a disqualifying factor, will be taken into consideration.

Our evaluators will review each candidate carefully, and notify recipients of the awards by June 1. Recipients attending the meeting will be allowed to submit receipts of their travel expenses and receive reimbursement (up to $1,000).

DIA Travel Grants are funded by the NEED scholarship fund and managed by the ANS DIA Committee. Within two weeks after attending the meeting, grant recipients are required to submit both an expense report with receipts along with a grant report outlining the personal benefits received from the grant and from attending the meeting. All reports should be sent to scholarships@ans.org.
