Racial Justice + Disability Justice

Advance Your Leadership Power (AYLP) concentrates on the intersection of race and disability.

Currently, AYLP is looking into Chicago’s emergency response systems and exploring how these systems affect people with disabilities, particularly those who are also people of color.

  • AYLP focuses on racial justice, particularly within the context of disability rights.
  • AYLP started as a group for youth with disabilities, and its work has and continues to evolve to best meet the needs of its members and the Chicago community.
  • AYLP meets virtually from 4 to 6 p.m. on the first, third, and fifth (when applicable) Tuesdays of every month. Check the date of their next meeting on the events calendar.
  • All are welcome to join AYLP.

For more information on AYLP, contact Access Living’s Community Organizer for Racial Justice.

AYLP members are people with disabilities, social justice advocates, and allies.
