FORT VALLEY, Ga. (WGXA) -- Fort Valley State University hosted a Kickoff Ceremony for its upcoming renovation projects for three different on-campus buildings Thursday.

The campus will take on renovations to its Bywaters, Founders, and Lyons buildings.

Edwidge Dufresne, Director for Service Management for Fort Valley State University, says to expect a big transformation for the campus. He says that it's an old campus with a lot of history, and part of the initiative to make these renovations is to have a one-stop shop for students to be able to access all the student services that the university has to offer.

The renovations begin on February 15th, 2024, and are expected to be completed within 18 months.

"The Lyons Center will serve as a hub for financial aid, academic advising, and it will eliminate the issues that we have getting the services that we need, because they'll all be located in one spot," said Genesis Ivey, Student Government Association President at Fort Valley State University.
