Three things you can do today to prepare for a Valley emergency:
1. Sign up for alerts from local emergency services
www.alertmarin.org – Register to receive evacuation or shelter in place notifications specific to your street address.
www.nixle.org – Text your zip code to 888777 to receive information regarding hazards pertinent to your zip code.
County of Marin Emergency Portal – your trusted source of information for emergency preparedness and response.

2. Register with SGVERG
Use the form to the below to register with SGVERG.
When you register with the SGVERG you will be a part of our communications network via email and phone.
Recent years have shown us how unexpected emergencies can come up at any time. By registering with us, when a crisis comes, we will contact you to see if you need assistance or can offer help.
3. Assess how ready you are and what you can do to be prepared
Review our pages on preparing for Wildfire, Earthquake, Power Outage, and more to learn what you can do to prepare for an emergency.
Register with VERG:
VERG is a network of your neighbors who work together to prepare for emergency situations. By filling out this form you will be connected with the Neighborhood Leader for your neighborhood.
You will also be subscribed to our mailing list. Depending on time of year and current emergency situations, those emails come monthly, weekly or daily. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time.

Who is VERG and what do we do?
Under the direction of the San Geronimo Valley Disaster Coordinator and the Leadership Team, VERG inspires and trains the Valley to be prepared for a disaster.
VERG helps the community by:
- Organizing Neighborhood Networks.
- Maintaining a robust radio network.
- Supporting Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) and other vital teams.
- Holding classes so residents know how to prepare and mitigate fire risk.
- Teaching residents about Home Hardening and Defensible space and inspiring them to act to mitigate risk.
- Arranging support for Vulnerable residents
We believe that in a disaster:
- If individuals and families are prepared our entire community is safer.
- Knowing when to leave and where to go ahead of time is essential.
- To leave quickly you’ll need a “go kit” and important belongings ready.
- If you need to stay at home, you’ll need supplies for 5-7 days or more.
- A communication plan ensures that families safely reunite.
- If neighborhoods are organized neighbors can help one another.
Joining VERG puts your family on the path to becoming prepared and self-sufficient in the event of a disaster. “Lessons learned” show that being prepared and being part of a disaster network increases your chances of survival and recovery during and after a disaster.
How can you help?

- Volunteers
Donations will be used to buy emergency equipment and supplies. All donated funds go directly towards our mission of helping prepare Valley residents to survive emergencies with minimal disruption.
